Beyond my pay grade as they say,but Itlooked like a very nice weekender,alas no anchours in evidence,I would suggest a good fisherman,like wot I had on my first yacht?

I was working at the Boat Show all week and walked past them on a daily basis. Wearing my sailing school polo shirt emblazoned with RYA logos and I kept getting "are you aware of the role of the RNLI?" I hate Chuggers!!!

In their defence, the role of the RNLI seems to be widely debated on these and other forums. Perhaps they decided it's time to clarify their real purpose and now you'll never know whether it's saving lives or stockpiling money ?
The RYA could probably do with clarifying their purpose a little too!

I hope you found refuge with Concerto -I don’t know if RNLI chuggers were a new feature of the show but the access area for non exhibitors was horrid - let’s hope they forget that idea for next year though. I heard one comment which was inside the tent it had turned into the trade fair -I should say that the chance to speak to a couple of stands there was really helpful -the Batsystem davits caught my eye-has anyone fitted a set ?

I spent a pleasant half hour on Concerto.
If anybody knows the email address of the head chap at the RNLI please let me know as they don't publish it on their website, if enough of us contact him they might wake up that they have overstepped the mark in their approach to speaking to part of the community that uses their services.
The big tent has always been a trade fair and I've been to a lot throughout my working life. The great thing is it was quieter that previous visits and I was able to speak at length with several companies about kit I'd either bought, was about to buy or thinking about.

I keep hearing my name being mentioned. Not all of you forumites introduced yourselves like Sandy, but have posted kind comments. Thank you. Hopefully if you did visit, you found it worthwhile. Anyone who sees Concerto is still welcome to come aboard in the future - provided I am aboard! Currently in East Cowes Marina on B6 and leaving tomorrow to head back to Chatham.
On the first Saturday I quickly lost count of how many people visited by 11.15. For the 10 days of the show an estimated 800 people passed through Concerto - and I spoke to most of them. Not a rude comment or any problem from anyone. For those who missed my greeting, you will have missed a good chuckle. It broke the ice and everyone was relaxed. I spoke to people from so many areas of sailing and from wanna be sailors, all questions I tried my best to answer to the best of my ability.
A fellow Fulmar owner who is restoring his boat visited mid week on his own for 1½ hours one day followed by 2½ hours the next with his wife. He considers me his mentor and I just left him to poke around Concerto. He discovered a few interesting solutions for specific items and picked my brains on many more. He did not out live his welcome and was the person who stayed the longest (and did not stop anyone visiting at all as he moved back to the cockpit).
Last night I started writing an article for the Westerly Owners Association magazine. Well the first draft contains lots of interesting bit of behind the scenes and funny moments, but I may have to cut down the 5 pages of A4. Having been so engrossed in doing it, I realised it was then 2.20am and should have been in bed hours ago. Sorry I will not put this online until after it has been printed for WOA members later this year. It should be availabe before Christmas in the dark and gloomy off sailing season.
