Boat supplier(finder!)see link info req?

Rob

Maybe a bit off topic but are you sure the small block 350 mag will cut the mustard in that boat? The most popular motor before discontinued in the 2855 was the 7.4 only 310hp but 40% more torque than the 350. The 2858 I would imagine is heavier than the 285, add fuel, water, people, slime if marina based that 5.7 is going to be working hard. Wouldn't the 8.1 be a better choice and its fresh water cooled. The Bayliner owners club website had guys with identical 2855's some with the 350 mag and others with the 7.4 and the difference in performance was quite apparant especially at low planning speeds. Excuse me if you have already looked into this.

All valid points Andrew.
I will look into it................Gut reaction is that it should be more than adequate for our planned usage!
However I will do some more research.

Thanks
Rob

I have a 285 with the 350 mag and I feel it is more than adequately powered. Remember you are comparing old technology to new

Al

Is the 2858 not quite a lot heavier, flybridge etc? The plate on my 2655 says 5 1/4 ton I would expect the 2858 to be quite a bit more?
