Suggestions please for a roughly 8 metre motor boat, for river and coastal cruising, inboard diesel, basic accommodation for 2 (shelter and tea making facilities as a minimum), but ideally also a double berth and a loo, needs to be able to take the ground without damaging the prop, displacement (not planing), price up to £25,000.

Is @seastoke referring to a Channel Islands 22?
Here is a twin engine version - some have a single engine. They have a keel, so should be able to take the ground if you have legs attached.

Or how about a Beneteau Antares, with a well protected single propeller behind a deep skeg?

I don’t know if an Orkney would be of interest but might be worth a look.

Always liked the Saga 26ht - slower and maybe less seaworthy than a CI22 but nicer accomodation. Seaward 23 should be doable with twin mermaids, later yanmars are more expensive but you said you only want displacement. Leftfield option but a Nimbus 2600 would give you a permenant berth in the aft cabin and a dinette up front that you wouldn't have to convert, there one for sale over your budget but it has been reengined with a volvo D3 (not sure if thats good) and says its good for 20kts.

If you want to go full displenment a Profile 33 is bigger, older and slower but some had bilge keels.

If you choose the Channel Island 22 buy one which is fitted with twin Volvo 43 HP engines. The twin engine models are super maneuverable.

I know of one that’s coming up for sale soon. Twin VPs and fresh water all or most of its life. I’m sure the former. It’s being moved to the sea to attract more attention currently
