Boat Stuck on Chertsey Bridge - Sat PM

Yey! Sportsboat to the rescue.

Out of genuine interest, would it be best to pull using a bridle between the two rear cleats or would it be best to use the Water Ski eye. The cleats are designed for mooring the boat whilst the water Ski eye is designed to pull fat Americans up onto water skis?

It's a Bates Whatf Chris Craft and I would imagine they used both cleats and several hundred HP that is if they pulled it off. I will find out.

The picture in the "super soaraway sun" suggests it might not have been the sportsboat :(

Here it is later when "docked" (The Suns words - not mine!), so it looks unmarked.

Blimey, that's pretty quick getting the info up. Hope they get it released ok without causing too much damage to both boat and bridge.
Why on earth did they close the bridge for heavens sake? 'Elf 'n safety gone mad as usual. Chertsey Bridge has been clouted by boats for over 200yrs and survived. What makes the nanny staters think that a little wooden boat can damage it structurally?

A bridle would be best as the pull wasn't straight.

Similar boat but 60's variety and suspect Akerboom or similar. Usually modestly powered for the weight, probably 20 tons+ and 200hp.
Hull looks ok but super' looks a bit rough.
I suspect liveaboard.

You are spot on, steel Akerboom or Van Lent, can tell from the crest on the bow as well as beauty of line. Cannot believe that so many regular river users failed to recocognise one??

You are also correct regarding power, just over 200 hp total, many had twin DAF 105's

Nice to see that people still recognise class though...........

I have certainly seen at least one of these but, to be fair, not that many out and about.

Notice no sign of a name and can't see any visitors licence either .......
