Hi All
Am looking for somewhere to store my Bayliner 1750 along the south coast. Idealy looking for a boat park / Yard with its own slipway and not too expensive. Have looked at the dry stacks, but they seem to prefer annual storage rather than summer !
Any thoughts ??

I am at Southampton Dry Stack they do summer only packages, also dry Drivers Wharf next door they charge by the month I think.

Keep my 25' sports fisherman ashore in a dry berth compound at Seaway Marine, Haslar Marina, Gosport ... reasonable price and will do 6 monthly, monthly, annual ... whatever you need. They will launch you if you want or there is a slip handy if you just want to pay for storage on your own trailer. Very handy ... 5 minutes and you're out in the Solent as opposed to Soton or Hamble where it takes ages before you start! They have a website. No connection ... just a satisfied customer.

Spoke to Southampton dry Stack today, altho its not cheap it does seem very atractive to just turn up and the boat is on the water waiting !
How do you get on there ? Is it practical for a smaller boat in that area, ?

I find it suits my needs really well as you say not cheap, but comparable to wet moorings in the area. I have used my boat more than I ever have to be honest, out weekend before last lunch in Cowes great, came back washed off put back on the covers and walked away. Its on the Itchin river with an 8 knot speed limit I think, nice gentle trip down river getting the engine warmed through past Ocean Village then on your right its QE2 dock and the grain silos, once past that nail it and off up Southampton Water into the Solent, I keep to the left out of the way of the fast ferry to Cowes he's doing 30knots + down there. But works well for me, great bunch running the show as well.

I know several people with boats at Drivers Wharf & they speak very highly of their service. They launch by crane and offer the usual phone ahead and your boat will be afloat at the pontoon for you, drop it off at the pontoon and they'll lift it out for you service. It's not the most salubrious of areas but seems secure enough and I believe is reasonably priced. (Or as reasonably priced as Southampton gets!)

at 17 ft you are going to find the sea a bit lumpy a bit often I fear. You could have a look at Northney-at least you get the harbour if its lousy out at sea.

whilst I agree with the comment re the lumpy sea and a 1750 it's not exactly suited for 8knots around Chichester harbour either!

it's a great lake boat, and will be fine in the solent when conditions allow......unfortuantely of course everyone else will then be out making it all rather choppy again - just like the med!
