One of our RIBS was in the area with a full load of 'trippers' but the Skipper managed to get the peeps off the about to be 'stricken' vessel ok
An attempt to pull/float Her to safety was scheduled on this mornings tide but I haven't heard what happened yet. Must make the call!

The initial coastguard report mentioned on the Daily Post website indicated engine failure; surely a boat that size would have 2 engines ?

It also mentioned the Mayday went unanswered and had to be relayed. That would indicate they were not using the ship radio but handheld or ship radio was under powered. Also the anchor does not appear to be deployed. I would postulate that the engine failure was in essence catastrophic electrical failure.

There are several scenarios that could cause a twin-engined boat to lose all propulsion.
Dodgy fuel or running out of fuel, loss of steering, control system or electrical issues, hitting something and getting flooded, fire, etc...

You tell him Roy, extremely poor taste

I was visiting the marina today. Haven't seen you down in a good couple of weeks. Thought you might join in on the River Festival and the LA-LA rally. Was going to invite myself along. Guess you tead my intention :D

I haven't been down to the boat for more than six weeks Bruce, my daughter has had a serious medical problem, on the mend now, but I wasn't prepared to let her face it without me. Hope to be down in the next week or so, hope my boat doesn't look too worse for wear, sounds like it's all been happening there.
