You are probably all sick of Boat Show comment; but how many are noticing how much flak the organisers of the intended Earl Court Boat show are taking from the BMF and some of its members for having the temerity to create some competition this coming December. Amongst many assertions is included the claim that no marine business of any consequence is planning to exhibit at Earls Court. I wonder if that is true? Other negative comment from the same sources smacks of a 'closed shop' way of thinking - quite out of place in a market economy I would have thought.
Are our sailing journals running any serious articles on the topic?
I have exhibited at Earls Court in the past and more recently at Excel and have had good results from both.
I am a BMF member have no connection with the ECBS organisers.

The shows will take care of themselves.

Its obvious that rising prices has forced many small companies to stop exhibiting. If Earls Court can lower it cost to attract these smaller companies back we may have a show that suits 80% of the buying public.

Excell will survive for the remaining 20% of the buying/dreaming public.

I was a little suprised at the barely disguise vitriol in the piece in this months YM.... it was pretty one sided I thought......

Yes I thought the same. It was interesting that some BMF members were quoted as saying that they would only support the Excell show. How long I wonder will they do that if the buyers are going to Earls Court, the visitors going to Excell are going for the familly day out.
