Lets all hope things go well for the Southampton Boat Show this year. Does anyone know or have a link to discounted tickets as there usually is

Currently talking to a supplier re new stuff for the boat, he is nervous about committing to the Soton boat show after last year’s debacle. They are chasing him hard for his down payment even though the contract stipulates only a 8% refund if show cancelled.

What would you do in his situation? Pay up and take a chance or hold out?

I think in early September things will be OK..... Got to keep positive

Covid cases rising at an unprecedented rate at the moment. May allow show to go on with much more stringent covid precautions (not "Lockdown" as such, just more care) - I would say to them that unless they can guarantee in writing the show will go on no matter what (I can't see us having another total lockdown) he wants a full refund if they choose to cancel it, he won't pay just yet.

On what grounds can they justify only an 8% refund? If you pay to be at a show that doesn't happen, surely you should get way over 50% back?

Somehow I feel they won't be oversubscribed with exhibitors this year....

Just an update on this. I received an e-mail from the show organizers with a code that I was to use when buying tickets for the 2021 show. The code meant I would not be charged as I had previously paid for 2020 show tickets. I'm glad they kept to their promise.
