Boat show 1st day highlights!!!!!!

If anybody could explain the design principles and the advantages of twin wheels on a boat that is not a lean, mean racing machine I will buy them a pint and will listen to the theory.

Good view of the jib luff. And unlike a single, large wheel, easy to step forward or aft to the bathing platform.

Sad.
Indeed, sometimes I think the whole of internet discourse, as it is interpreted by some, can be summed up five or seven words -"I am better than you" or "My way is better than your way". I suppose some get their kicks from pissing competitions and, presumably, assume that other people are like them. It's a common mistake.

Oh well. Each to their own.

I think that you missed the small smiley face at the end... Unfortunately with the written word on the Internet, humour is sometimes lost!

Well I'm off to have a look - there's always the Guinness tent or whatever it's called :D

I went yesterday and my thoughts at the end of the day were quite confused. I've not been for about 8-10 years, so it seemed very small. Had I just gone for a general look I would have been seriously disappointed! In fact I am sorting out an electronic upgrade for my partner's boat. We were able to speak to a few very knowledgeable people and look at various options. We didn't spend ages waiting or have to push through hoards of people.
In summary, it worked well for us but is well past it's sell by date!
We were the only people in the black and white bar, apart from a guy paid to sing for us!

someone told me that during the Earls Court days all the bar staff at the Guinness stand were off duty air traffic controllers on some kind of historic jolly. I had some great days at that stand I vaguely recall.

i wonder if the air traffic controller memory was Guinness induced.....

Seriously in the market for a feathering prop but it looks like only 2 of the 10 or so competing designs will be at the show. But I'm in London on Friday and one of the prop makers has sent free tickets so I will pop along and have a look.
Been to the Excel show once before and I'm not expecting much. But it will be good to talk to somebody who knows his stuff about options for upgrades to the electronics.

Some of the electronics manufacturers have dealer technical people on their stands, we found the ones from Greenham Regis to be particularly knowledgeable and helpful.

We went down to the Show yesterday for late night Thursday and there was a great atmosphere. lots of boats to see and climb aboard and the new location of the Sunseeker stand has made a big difference. my kids went out into the pool to try stand up paddleboarding for the first time and had a blast.

Quite a bit better than I was expecting. Only Gori and Brunton propellers to look at but met the man from Digital Yacht who is developing their IKommunicate thingy. (I ordered one when they first asked for crowd funding.). He was very helpful on the options for using the surviving bits of an ageing Corus network as the displays start to fail.
Also Vetus were very helpful about bits for the engine cooling system. And Andersen Winches' agent stripped down a winch on his stand to show us how to service ours.
-Nice chat and a drink with the charter company we used a couple of years ago.

We took a non-sailing colleague along on a spare ticket and Sunseeker were happy for him to have a look round their 55-footer even though there was no chance of a sale
So with a ride on the cable car and an evening looking at the Lumiere Festival with our daughter a very pleasant trip.
