I'm thinking about moving up to a 42 fly or such and have been looking about.

I read lots of here about people saying they can get such a boat for under 100k...but i'm not seeing such adds.

What i would really like is to pay a small amount of money to somebody who will trawl for boats for sale and find me what i'm looking for and then set up viewings....i just can't be bothered doing this myself.

I've tried going down the broker route...two very well known hamble brokers failed...i asked to view two boats...they took my details but never called me back. So i chased them up twice to not be called back twice.

So i have 100k...i want a princess or fairline 40-42 fly or something that does not have an bloody tent ontop...hate mine!

Prefer shafts to outdrives.

Any thoughts gents?

Boats.co.uk used to, maybe still do, offer a boat buying service for a rather expensive (IMO) 10% of the purchase price. That included all the purchase stuff too (but not the survey). In your shoes, I'd be striking up a good rapport with Nick Barke and also dealers in the locations where you wish to keep the boat. You can also subscribe to search updates on Yachtworld and TheYachtMarket that will alert you of any new boats added meeting your criteria. Also put a wanted ad on the owners' club forums. To save the hassle of traipsing round the country looking at crappy boats, post a thread on here and I'm sure someone local to the boat will be happy to have an initial look for you.

You could try Adam Baker at Global Yacht Brokers. He has done this sort of service. Really top bloke, and knows his stuff. Try calling on 07789 207706.

Is it fair to say that all brokers put all their boats on these two websites? So if there is a boat out there you will find on one of these sites?

All the brokers that I would consider buying a boat from list on those two sites. There are other portals, e.g. Cosas De Barcos and iNautia for some others. Then of course I guess there are much smaller brokers and private sellers that won't be on any portal.

Second this recommendation. Adam - Princess, Fairline, Sunseeker & others 25 + years. One of the better and most professional.
