I am looking to sell up (8m Cat) and looking at cheap and cheerful online sales sites such as Apollo Duck, Boat24 and E Bay as a listing.
Any experiences good or bad with any of these sites and also things to be very wary about. Thanks.

Sold my last boat on eBay. Had a couple of wishful-thinkers and one that hit the 'Buy-it now' button, which I accepted, marking it as 'sold'.
When he got in touch to arrange a viewing, it was clear he had no intention of even turning up, let alone actually buying.
Basically, don't use 'Buy-it-Now' - some people take a perverse pleasure in seeing things taken off the listing.

I didn't use the auction option for selling as there are others that like to put in a winning bid, only to not come up with the money - or they arrive, look around & then offer a much lower amount...

Interesting. Haven't used ebay for a long time now. If you didn't use ' buy it now' or the auction option , how did it work out. Thanks.

If you list with Apollo Duck it's worth paying for the option that allows you to upload more than one photo - the free listing only allows you one I believe, and a lot of buyers won't bother to get in touch if they can't see at least a couple of interior pics.

We also found Facebook marketplace useful as buyers (we viewed a couple, and then actually found our current boat based on a post in an owners group), but from a seller's perspective I understand there are a lot of time wasters.

I have sold 2 of our previous boats on Apollo Duck (one for 45K and the other for 90K) and as said pay for the option to upload lots of pictures.

Use the Buy it Now/Fixed price option & turn off the "Best offer - Accept, counter, or decline offers submitted by buyers." option - and do not end the listing until the buyer has arrived & shown the colour of their money.

Alternatively, use the 'Classified ads' listing - costs a little more (about £4 more), but will be up for three to four times longer.

I have sold 3 boats over the years with Apollo Duck and found it excellent .Any costs are tiny compared with a broker.Only down side is the faff of showing people around. However the owner can do a far better and knowledgeable sales speel than a broker. The sales paperwork is also quite manageable.

I advertised on Apolloduck, Boatsandoutboards, and FB marketplace. No paid listings.

Marketplace generated the most interest and also a lot of dead ends, but it did eventually lead me to a buyer.

I'm not on facebook, so I would miss any boats for sale there... but accept I'm in a minority.

Often overlooked by private sellers, but you can advertise on it, TheYachtMarket

We sold our Westerly Centaur on there in just a couple of weeks (although that's going back to 2011). I think it's currently the best of the bunch in terms of user experience. Many think it's for brokers adverts only, but it is not. Sell Your Boats or Charter Your Boats | TheYachtMarket

If I were selling a Catalac, I'd invest in a full advert (lots of good photos, boat looking clean etc) on either Appoloduck or Yachtmarket, and possibly a second advert on either ebay or facebook (if I had an account) to scoop up the alternative boat buyers that might be looking for a 'bargain'

As an aside... over the last couple of years, Yachtworld (for brokers only) seems to have gone to hell (from a user perspective) to the point of being unusable. I've noticed many smaller UK brokers switching to, or only using, the Yachtmarket and Appoloduck as a consequence.

There are a few active boat selling groups on Facebook which would be my first port of call, then twin the advert on both boats and outboards and Apollo duck. Main thing is to have the boat tidy and good, clear photos.

Even if you (perhaps understandably) don’t have a Facebook account, worth setting one up for.

Price talks. If you want to sell there is always a keen buyer but they like a bargain. So knock a few grand off and it will go quickly.

Here is new listing site which has some advantages over others:

First it is free
Second you can upload loads of photos
Third you don't seem to have problems with text edits or links being removed

Nowt to do with me. Pretty young at the moment and some software raw edges but I can see it might quickly do very well:
