Boat purchase completed!

we want pics of all the lovely surroundings, I guess it's a forest by the marina right?

V.

I'd say it's a marina in the forest ;) If there is one thing we have it's forests. You can literally think of the whole country as being one big forest with some space made for cities, roads, marinas, etc...

But there are also thousands of lakes scattered all around the country, so it can be quite pretty. You'll see the coming summer :)

Congratulations Scubaman on completing this chapter of the adventure. Boat looks fantastic in that port-quarter photo near the s'seeker. What is her new name? I hope the rest of your trip and your summer go really well. Keep posting the scenic photos - we love them!

Thank you!

We are naming her after our daughter. We haven't told her yet, but as soon as the letters arrive we'll have a small naming ceremony where she will do the honors. I got the registration documents back already, "Aida" is her new name.

I've ordered the very basic standard arial letters to get them fast, but they haven't showed up yet... If they turn out to be a bit too small, which I suspect they may be at 90 mm, I may have another look in getting something a bit special. I'm not having illuminated letters though :D

Oh come on you know you want to! :D

That's a nice name (for a daughter and a boat!). Even if you want non illuminated, you might want to look at www.yachtlite.com. But your daughter would LOVE IT if illuminated :)

And this gives me the perfect excuse to post this video which has nothing to do with boats but a bit to do with flying to your boats :D

Scuby, how do you get on with the infernal mossies when it warms up? I used to get involved with the 1000 Lakes rally. Great event, fabulous people, but the mossies.........................................

Forest after the sunset is not the best place to be :D

They are less of a problem in open spaces and certainly in marinas. That's one of the reasons I prefer boats over of summer cottages.

TBH, you also get used to them and there are good repellents for when you do want to go for a midnight sun hike.

It's a lot worse in Lapland.

Yes, we used to be told many stories of Lap disease when north of the arctic circle.

During the process I had the pleasure of dealing with many people and companies, few of which deserve a special thanks.

First of all Volvopaul, It's been great to have had him on my corner, that's how it has felt. Not that he needs any more positive recommendations but here's my 110% on top of the heap :)

Steve Jones from this forum moved the boat and skippered the sea trial for me at a very reasonable cost and was flexible in schedules.

Osmotech did a great job with the sanitation system and also took care of the prepping and shrink wrapping for me. They did everything on time, within the agreed cost and the way they had done the prepping was exemplary. All the dismantled parts were labeled, wires numbered, bolts stowed in a plastic containers, etc… first class job.

Marine Reflections of this forum (The Boat Cleaning Company) were kind enough to fit me into their busy schedule. In the many emails I exchanged with Tony, the dedication to best possible finish shone through. The boat now looks like new! Very highly recommended.

Peters & May handled the transportation with a minimum fuss and, with a little help from a fellow forumite :) , kept me well informed on what went on.

People have been really nice and I've had no problems in operating as a foreign customer. There were also a few hiccups but luckily plan b's worked and all in all everything has gone well.

There was one slight peculiarity when I made an enquiry on re-upholstering the external cushions. I first received a response saying that the company in question does not recommend Sunbrella to be used on exterior cushions but would recommend standard vinyl. On expressing my surprise towards their recommendation, they told me that the lead time for the fabric is 8 - 10 weeks and apologized for trying to mislead me...

Final shakedown to look forward to, but I'm confident that everything will work ok.

As a final word, this forum has been an amazing help along the way. Thank you everyone.
