Boat polish

I have been running all my old supply of polish down to the point I will have to buy some. TO my shock it cost £20 + for a bottle of marine polish!!! Does anyone know a solution to this? Is there a domestic product that will work just as well?

BTW, one pot does much more than a 36ft boat.

Hi John,

Having just moved to Guernsey, I've found that Miracle Shine is used by the guys that valet boats. It's just a polish and having looked at the results, I'm impressed. So much so I've bought some to try.

After compounding I've found a couple of coats of MER car polish to give very good results and easy to use. Wipe on leave to dry and wipe off. Used on last two boats having tried all sorts of expensive marine products.

Try "Silky".Available at any camping or caravan outlet.Around £5.00 a pot.
Basically a cream which you apply and leave to dry.
Wash off with a bucket of water containing normal car wash with wax.
Excellent results.You may well find you have actual money left in your pocket after buying.


WARNING THIS STUFF DOES NOT HAVE "BOAT" OR "MARINE" ON THE BOTTLE.
Boaters needing this reassuring piffle should continue to buy the outrageous overpriced snake oil sold in weeny quantities in your local chandlery.

Another +1 for the Greased Lightning Showroom Shine. I've only just started using it, but it does make the job very easy and seems to do a pretty good job!

i use car autoglym which is available for about a tenner for 1 litre off ebay delivered.Easy to apply and buff.

+1 autoglym we also purchase it of eBay but in 5 litre drums,works out just over a fiver a ltr, works well even if surface still wet and as it is a cleaner and polish, removes those black rain marks.
