Boat option advice please

Not so sure about well priced so much as older and therefore cheaper. Not just the 20% VAT on top of the price, the cost of looking, surveying, getting it home will be more and add to the overall cost to have it sitting on your mooring.
But if it’s a boat your after and you can get a deal on it then it’s worth the agro.

For example - compare:-

UK. - Jeanneau 805 Leader Used Boat for Sale 2001 | TheYachtMarket. X was under offer, now available again so not sure if that’s condition, buyer or what.

Compared to :-

France:- JEANNEAU LEADER 805 Used Boat for Sale 2002 | TheYachtMarket

Assuming you got 20% off both boats in negotiation.... UK one would cost £30k the French one about £27 with the VAT and shipping.

At that the uk one is tempting for ease, but if the UK seller held his price and the French one didn’t a £5k -£10k saving is not to be sniffed at.

Although the french one does say that vat is paid and included in the asking price. So an even better deal.

Yup. But Northern France isn't hard to get to - maybe leave it there and go over to it, or base Jersey Guernsey?

But haggle hard and there are some European bargains although some are in bad nick.

Given it seems to be a seller's market I am interested in he idea of a 20% discount! I wonder what the markets in France/Spain/ Portugal are like?

Problem is travelling thousands of miles looking to find out what is the one you are after!
Then find one local that may not be for sale, take a look around that first before making the decision to travel. Or, if you know that that is a boat for you after viewing one locally, you don’t need to travel to see the one on the market abroad. Just send a surveyor and get a full detailed report with photos and or videos.

I don’t know what kind of discount you’d get to be fair - I was just guessing - I do think it’s a sellers market at the mo, but not sure that will continue for long once lockdown is over....

Rumours are there are a lot of business support grants that haven’t been used for what they should have been.....

Wonder how many have siphoned money out the company and will just close the business down after the pandemic with huge losses, whilst they have personally done pretty well!

You assume everyone lives beside a dozen marinas!
