Over the years I've had a few boats, some came with names that mean nothing to me, so I now always change them to SpottyDog (after our beloved Dalmatians) just chuck a quid over the side for Neptune and an excuse to get out the bubbly.
Here's my selection :-
Buckler Ketch, no name - The black Pig
Dolphin 19, Jessica - Lunasea
Merry Fisher 625, Evasion - Evasion,
Merry Fisher 695, My Little Girl - SpottyDog
Merry Fisher 805 new - SpottyDog
Prestige 32, new - SpottyDog
Sealine F43, Bumble - SpottyDog
Picchiotti Tigress, Tuxedo- SpottyDog

None have sunk yet so I guess its okay.

Whilst I post this in the mobo section, raggies most welcome too :)

Hi Roy trust you are all well - Are you around next weekend in the Solent on your floaty boaty if so be good to meet up and get Garyo down ;)

Scratching my head trying to recall ours:

Bayliner 1750: first boat named Little Rascal and we kept it as it was cool
Fletcher 19GTS: second didn't have a name when purchased so we called it Fletcher 19 GTS:D
Rinker 250: third was Lorna Jane and we kept that name too, why? got to be honest and admit laziness:o
Sealine S28: and finally, the recently purchased boat is named Inbetweenie but soon to have this decal on the bow and stern

Mine have all been evenstar or a variation thereof. 5 point if you can make the connection to elessar.

I named my second boat, a new Fletcher 19 GTS diesel, HERCULES -a strong little boat.

I kept the name that was already on my third boat- BOBBY- cos that is also my name. Apparently the previous owner named the boat after his favorite dog but i never found out the breed.

Our first own boat was a Tristan Harmony (similar to this) called Ariadne. The first owner was a tenor P. Lindroos, hence the name which we ended up keeping.

Second boat was a Sealine F37 - Nicki B. The name didn't work especially well here as it had to be spelled out every time, but as we couldn't come up with a better name (and the stickers were in good shape :)) we kept that too.

Our current boat, a F/L Phantom 43, was called Binks. We decided to rename her after our daughter Aida.

Our current boat started out as Topside of Wales, then Calm Voyager, then Aquasition and now MaxSisi after our kids. (I think I may have missed one!) Previous boat names stayed the same due to superstition but we figured another name would not upset the sea deity this time. All names are written on the hull (on the inside) to keep the gods sweet.

My early Fletcher sports boats were Mr Clag. My MRC initials and my then girlfriends LAG.

The Sunseeker Superhawks :

Essential
Essential Too
Essential Free
Essential For (play) left the play out

Then Sunseeker Portofinos were all called

Ocean Therapy

Then Shadow & Sombra (Portugese for Shadow) and new one I think I will call Bluebird.

Our first boat , Princess 37 was called "Dunheanish" which we changed to Lily
next boat was sealine 410 called "hot property" changed to Smiley Girl
then we briefly had a larson 256 called Clarrisa - didn't change only owned it a few months
then the targa 43 was called "Eze Life" rapidly changed to Aphrodite
current sealine was called "heartbeat" which was changed to Isis.

Bizzarely the first owner of heartbeat bought her new because he had suffered a heart attack, hence the original name
The second owner bought her because his wife had a heart attack
then I bought her because I had a heart attack - weird or what.

I thought it was time to change the name before anyone else had a heart attack.

Have had several boats over the years with the first few not having names, Poole canoes (flat bottomed) pilot 17 (similar to dell quay dory) then a hardy 17 named Panda, not sure why I didn't change that name. My first new boat was a Warrior 195 and after hours of deliberation the missus said well you will do exactly what you want anyways so just call it Maverick so I did. Next was the current boat, with my reputation for just upping and going when I please decided to call it "AWOL"

Boat Names

Kilifi 2 after a place a liked on the Kenya coast X 2
Jambo also with a connection to Kenya
Zingaro of Conwy (a gypsy of the sea)
Ida May X 2 (SWMBO's mother's first name and my mother's second name)
Ida May (ex Scallywags) the only one whose name has been changed for obvious reasons I think! We didn't have any troubles with her but did put a couple of silver sixpences under the mast to keep the evil spirits away.
Ocean Star - a name we thought about changing but all of a sudden felt that it fitted the boat so it stayed. Saved a few bob in decals, etc.

Richard.
