I have really searched but found almost nothing on where the most appropriate place for a canal cruiser's name decals to be.

Pics of the boat we have bought can be seen here (for some reason I cannot upload the .png files) http://hwo.nl/nl/gebruikte-schepen/69765/de-ruiter-kruiser.html :

The transom position is easy. Name on starboard side of swim platform ladder (which bisects transom) with port of registration (Woudsend NL) underneath or on port side. Then
- name on starboard and port sides: Bow, stern or on sides of coachroof?
- would it be incorrect to put both the port of registration and my home city on the transom?

"ELLE"
Woudsend NL - Durban ZA

I have seen comment that placing the name on the bow is 'not on' but have seen plenty of boats with the name on bow, stern and coach sides.

In the UK it is actually a requirement to have the name of the boat either side of the bow for commercially registered vessels as well as the name and port of registration on the stern.

So I'm not sure why people would suggest having the name on the bow is incorrect.

I've only seen one or two boats with their names written on the coachroof and/or saloon sides. Didn't look right to me. Somehow it's different for a fishing boat or a tug.
