Thanks to the advice received on this forum, I was able to change the datum of the old GPS system to interface with the new plotter system - both now on WS84 and applied the chart correction - the result is that the boat is noiw at its berth as it should be.
Its a pity that on local advice and to cure this problem I had ordered the WASS antenna at a cost of over £300 (not really needed) - but never the less, when the European system is live, I will be able to get even better accuracy.
So thank you for the advice.

Good to hear it's working Gludy!

Waas is satellite based differential. Gets the correction signal from sats, not from land based transmitters (although the correction signal is still calculated at ground stations, as it must be).

IMHO Gludy it's worth having; we used the current land based differential and the accuracy is stunning, could get the boat onto its pontoon in zero vis fog using it. Not strictly necessary of course, just nice

Re: damaged in transit

The boat came through the move fine - the roofs of the local marina dwellings suffered a lot though!!

On a more serious note, WASS is not actually available as yet in Europe - I beleive the system goes live later this year, whenI can expect some 6 feet of accuracy, so as the boat is 13 foot wide, should be accurate enough.

What seems to impress folks who have not seen a chart plotter before is to see the boat shape on the creen actually swing on its moorings to reflect the actual movements.
