Boat Monitoring Service

I’m aware that lots of owners live some distance from where their boats are moored and was wondering if there is enough need for some kind of boat monitoring service?

The kind of things that I’m thinking is checking that it’s locked and secure, mooring ropes are attached in good order, checking boat is all in order after bad weather.

After a period of cruising ensuring that the gas is turned off, hatches closed…….I think you’re getting the general idea.

I know that you can get the Marina to do it but might find it reassuring that it’s been done properly and provide images or a video.

What are everyone’s thoughts and feedback?

Our marina does a check twice a day. I can also see my boat from the marina webcam. I can call and ask them to do any other check as they have a set of keys and will do it free. Do they do it less properly than someone I pay specifically? How will I know until it all goes wrong and would be too late anyway? I guess it will depend on individual circumstances as to whether it would be any use, but no point for me as it stands.
