Having searched for thread titles "intruder alarm" and "burglar alarm", I still haven't got any idea on how to protect the cabin/living quarters on my little Viking 20.
Regardless of what sort of boat it is, once scum are through the main cabin door/s, what's to stop them making off with your valuables? Yes, I know strong additional locks might be a deterent, but I'm looking for a "shed" type alarm I guess that emits a very loud noise when someone enters.
Having seen countless boats in marinas over the years, very few, if any have any form of security system. We buy a £10k car and get a Thatcham approved alarm as standard. We buy a boat costing £100's of thousands and we get nothing.
So what's your suggestions and answers guys?
Edit...... Just had a thought - infra red beam across the doorway linked to a hidden siren. Key operated so you just turn it off before entering. Sounds too simple I guess.
