Boat insurance struggle

Indeed, I believe it to be a Sunseeker XS 2000 designed by Fabrio Buzzi. I could be wrong though
You are not, but Buzzi is pretty far from being "only" a designer, having his own (and very advanced!) building facilities.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the hull was actually moulded in Lake Como...

Hey QBhoy! I feel your pain. Let me know if you find anyone! I've been having a look around the internet as to why it's all so expensive, and the main reasons I can find is that Lloyds of London imposed cut backs on various insurers after posting successive years of terrible loss ratios (dammit... Irma again!). Best advice I can find is to shop around, but also found a good article. Half way down this page there are a few tips on how to navigate the application (i'm guessing 'obtaining a quote') process. Let me know how you get along!

Hi
Just wondering if anyone has a lead on a boat insurance company that will insure my boat for less than the cost of the moon.
It seems that when stating the boats capable speed, only one or two insurers will touch it and at a sillly price.
If I lower the speed on a search it becomes reasonable.
I don’t want to lie about it, even if I rarely take the boat to silly speeds.
Anyone recommend an insurer with performance boats in mind.
Thanks

If this posts twice... blame my lack of tech-savy abilities.

I feel your struggle QBhoy, let me know if you find an answer!
I've done a bit of digging to find out why it does feel like it's getting harder/more expensive to insure our yachts. The main reason I can find is that Lloyds recently imposed cutbacks on many insurers, and therefore they are either increasing their rates or not insuring yachts anymore at all (Brit, Barbican, Aspen all have pulled out of the market). The best article I found is about who to go about the application phase, and what the right things to say and do are/aren't. It's about halfway down this page, something along the lines of 'tips on how to go through the application phase': https://compareyachtinsurance.com/pitfalls/

I guess answer at the end of the day is to shop around. Let us know how you get along!

Thought I had the answers to your problems when I contacted Martin Payne, Obviously some of the Hunton's have a similar top speed to yours,

He advised that they used to use DeNovo. BUT then he went on to say they unfortunately lost their underwriter and have also pulled out of the business of insuring fast boats.

I have another person to ask. I will post if he comes up trumps. He has an 80MPH Hunton so maybe able to help

I have just had a reply they use
Bishop Skinner Marine

Insurance@Bishopskinner.com

Their boat does around 80mph so within your speed range .
Let us know if they can help

Hi Ian. Just picking this up now. Thanks for this lead. I’ll have a look ASAP down that route. I imagine it’s going to be expensive no matter what. Likely worth it. I’d be gutted should anything happen to her.
Thanks again.

Thanks c.buck. Have a few leads to follow up on. Seems it will be expensive no matter what.
It’s not often she gets opened right up for obvious reasons and circumstances. Things and hazards like wakes from larger boats come up all too quick at these speeds. Not to mention the fuel consumption rate compared to her surprisingly economical cruise speed.
I’ll let you know how I get on.
Thanks again.

@alex_mcneill - I think there's some work that needs to be done... Pantaenius' coverages in your table are highly incorrect (I used to have a policy with them so know their cover inside out)

I also think that the company you linked are treading on thin ice. I cannot see that they are authorised by the FCA to provide independent advice, yet they still mysteriously 'recommend' Insure4Boats where none of their coverage is confirmed... its all "Optional".

I also note that none of the big main insurance companies are actually on there. It seems that website don't compare any real insurance requirements, but are rather just a click through lead generator. I'd be weary of using a non marine insurance expert like them to even point me in the direction of insurance.

I'd rather stick with the likes of MS Amlin, Topsail, CompareYachtInsurance.com or Hiscox...

Please note entirely tongue in cheek non-serious reply based on a previous post ?
