Boat in build pics (Squadron 78)

Fab - On my way to Bonifacio NOW!!! Just need to calculate how big a bowser I need to tow across Biscay to do it without a stop. :D:D:D

I think Jack's a pretty cool writer too.

Put the Aquastar on a truck BJB and it will be there ready for a cruise the weekend after next. £5k all in. You know it makes sense!

Can you explain, what are scatter cushions FOR?

Ooer Mark, you've asked about my specialist subject there mate. Scatter cushions are a critically important part of the boat. It just wouldn't be the same without them. They make the sofas more comfortable of course just like in a house, but I agree their practical use ends there. However, they allow you to change the look every couple of days. The day after the dinner table/sofa was photographed with the cerise/pink, it was changed to aquamarine blue and turquoise stuff, giving a totally new look. Plain sofas with no cushions look too dull, esp on the flybr of this boat which has acres of sunbrella cloth. The cushions add colour, and you can change the colour every couple of days. They also make the beds look nicer. I have 60 cushion fillings on the boat in constant use and 90 cushion covers (to allow the look to be changed). It's essential stuff Mark! ;) ;)

JFM, have you been talking to my wife?

John,

Do you change your handbag every time you change the cushions.

You must be co-ordinated at all times.

PS Saw the boat at LIBS, it looked cracking.

they sure do !
these pics look beautifull and bright,
the cushions are the finishing touch that make them even more collorfull and wonderfull.

I will copy this post, and paste it on the first page of my new document:
"nice anchorages and interesting places for visiting in SOF area" :)
thanks for posting
looking forward to more match adventures

Naah, not with the luxury of a drying machine onboard...! :)
More likely to be some of the rocks in Lavezzi, as per previous pics.

when is your Rome-Cassis delivery trip?

itinery at this moment is:

leave Rome on 19 july
route via Giglio, Elba, Corsica to be defined
pickup guests in Toulon or Antibes area around 25 july
drop our kids in Toulon or other airport on 26 july
drop guests in Antibes around 29 july
and then some more cruising, route to be defined
to her final destination in Marseille on 12 august
plans might change, but period is fixed between 15/7 and 12/8

in wich period are you planning to go to Croatia in 2012 ?
perhaps in spring 2012 I might bring the boat back to Rome for some works
and then after that, spend one summer with BA in Croatia, and show her to my Croatian friends :)
hold on ! lets start with some smaller challanges ! :)

My (current) plan is to cruise Menorca/Mallorca/Ibiza from 29 July to 13 August, so I'll hope to see you in a SofF anchorage the weekend before (22/8 approx). I can arrange for you to use my berth in Antibes while I am away (25m x 6m on mole sud), for the whole or part of that 2 weeks

Elba is beautiful - berth in Portoferraio for a night

I haven't decided when in 2012 to got to Croatia. Could be early season (May/June) or the last week in July + all of August

If given the choice, I'd definitely prefer the first.
In the 2nd half of Jul and the 1st of Aug, the Croatian coast is really crowded, and many marinas don't accept reservation (they didn't use to, at least).
Of course, overnighting at anchor remains the best option around there, but the nicest bays are not that large, and they also get crowded in those weeks.
You'll definitely enjoy both your RIB and the Laser along that coast!

Blimey thats getting a bit Gok Wan. This is a boating forum not an ideal home forum:) I've banned scatter cushions from my boats for many years now as they serve no useful purpose other than mopping up oil from the bilges

:-) I can give you a list of things on boats that serve no useful purpose by that apparent definition. Starting with the boat itself... :-)

:) after JFM found that leftover daytime telly script to justify his superfluous boat apparel, I wonder what would be said if a new crew member did use one of the 30 "resting" covers as an oily bilge rag!! I doubt they came from ikea......

I'm more concerned that you think there's oil in the bilges than that the wrong rags might be used!

You owe me an invoice btw. Sleipner came on the boat and liked your sound blanket. They did some measuring too and want to change the oil pump, and swap all the elbows for swept elbows, in addition to the advice you gave. They think that if we do all that we will pretty much eliminate hum from the big hydraulic pump. Funnily enough, in use, I have not found the hum a problem becuase of course it is masked by all the other background noise of waves and people talking/playing on the boat, clinking of glasses, etc.
