Yep, she looks fantastic JFM, and I guess a huuuuge relief to get her "home". Now, what happened to those aerial vids from the 'copter?
Yes, both Match 1 and 2 have the Garmin AIS600 transponder, with the 2 "secrecy" terminals wired to a switch on the dash to turn off the transmit function and leave it as receive only. For 99% of the time i leave the transmit off. I only turn it on for low viz passagemaking, or to allow others to find me when group cruising. In the Cote D'Azur, if you leave it switched on you get constant hassle on ch 16 "Yacht Match this is signal station Cap Ferrat" calling you to ask your destination, eta, how many persons on board, etc. Plus the office can track me too easilyI thought JFM had said there was a transponder fitted, it may just be set to receive though I guess.
Well done on safely bringing Match home to PV, and perhaps just as importantlythanks for shipping the pot noodles and marmite down for me - appreciated!
Cheers
Jimmy
just to echo what's already been said John, thanks for starting this thread, keeping it updated, interesting and welcoming some of us on board when Match II was in the UK. Now time for some (more) fun... you've gotta get the Top Gear team on film using the quad copter?![]()
