I forgot to mention: the f/b dashboard is unquestionably the best I've ever seen on a boat of this size, period.

Dunno, but if you agree that the stern is more elegant without any opening, how relevant would that be?Don't you have to pay the crew more if they have no natural light?

Haha mapis that is indeed a kiss solution but I haven't yet found any white grp that lets daylight through so I'm gonna have to stick with the window idea!
Yup you are right about hull and deck being of different design genres. I don't hate it at all but I share your view directionally. I don't at all claim sq78 is perfect- all boats are a compromise. I took conscious decision to live with the "2012 hull windows meets 2002 superstructure" because in the round it amounts to the best deal IMHO. With a princess I get a production boat that they won't customise beyond the colour of the curtains. With a manhattan 73 or 70 I get so little range i cannot do antibes-balearics without calling in to barcelona. With a ferretti I get yuk mitsubishi stabilisers, defective helms and a residual value murdered by the fact the builder is giving the boats away. And so on. It's all a big compromise when you choose a boat like this and whatever boat I commissioned you and/ or I could find fault with

The gloss on the transom immediately caught my eye (in pic #4, for instance). I read somewhere that it was a 'special' A-Glaze treatment. Is this the case and in what way it differs from the regular job?
Fantastic work with the transom window, it makes such a difference.

Fiat Multipla with three seats across the front always reminded me of the Austin Maxi a friend had when we were students. We used to load the back with turntables and speakers from his dj-ing biz and drive home with three of us in the front seats, one steering, one working the gears and the other one looking out for the cops. Happy days.

Actually there are no cup holders. I didn't like fairline's, so i deleted them. I need to solve this little problem
BTW, the first 40 or so hulls built, when it was squadron 74, had no transom window. They only added the Lewmar window when it became squadron 78

Nothing special, except the guys applied 5 layers of the stuff!
Also it was bought new and someone told me A glaze changed the formula recently but I have no hard info on that

Oddly, I was reflecting on this yesterday evening. Driving west on the Marylebone Road about 10pm there was a nasty accident just by Tussauds and the police had to clear the traffic, which involved my waiting until an officer waved me back to turn down a side road. I absolutely heard him say to the driver of a police van, "You wait here till that Range Rover's clear" and thought to myself, yup, in the middle of a foul up there's still some recognition of blacked-out windows and a vanity plate.

Turned the corner into paradise - flat seas - as flat as a flat thing - now where have I heard that term before.
This is what boating is about - not sat in OV though.

I'll take a ferry to Sardinia on Jun 18th in the evening, to bring my car down there for the summer.
I'd gladly come earlier for a drink and to see M2 in flesh, if you'll be around on that day.
But I guess the ship will make it in a week or so, unless she'll stop somewhere in between, so you'll probably be in Antibes by then...?

Nice idea if the dates work out - I'll keep you informed. Don't bank on anything though - this is yacht shipping and is often late
. 7th June loading in Southampton is an estimate and departure could be 8th or 9th. I dunno if ship will call at Gibraltar and/or Palma (I didn't ask). And the drop off is Savona OR Genoa, at the shipper's option (becuase I am happy with either). So the likelihood of being able to meet for a beer is unfortunately about 99:1 MapisM But I will try to call in on you in Sardinia in July or August.The ship I'm booked on is Apollogracht, currently docked in Rauma on the W coast of Finland approximately opposite Stockholm. She now has to come down thru Kiel Canal I guess to get to Southampton, and I have no idea if she has port calls on the way

Only 5 coats!!! - I had between 8 and 10 coats applied last year on a 4 year old boat. Mind you I also had all the existing gel-coat cut back beforehand.
John if you still require the transom door to be A Glazed my guy is based in Southampton and is top notch with this product - Terry

Great, I'll be there during most of both months, possibly aside from one week or so around mid of Aug (which is the most crowded and hence less nice period to be there), when I'll be back home.
It would be a pleasure to talk of boats while sipping some good wine anchored in a beautiful bay, rather than in front of a keyboard, for a change!
Anyway, I'll keep also an eye on Apollogracht movements, just in case.
On a separate note, talking of A-glaze, does anyone know if it's recommended also for application on painted wood, or it's only meant for gelcoat?

Seeing these comments re A-glaze has coincided with someone telling about Restructure Marine Products and their use of nanotechnology on GRP. I'm in two minds about this but only because I don't understand it and am wary if using anything I don't understand on the Play d'eau. Do you have anything on it, John?

We have used A Glaze for years
Our old Sealine had very dirty exhaust outlets that always left the stern quarter sooty after a cruise.
So we switched to A Glaze - it didn't solve the problem of the sooty stern quarters but it made it significantly easier to clean after each cruise.
Just a simple wash off with a soap removed all the soot whereas a waxed surface had to be rubbed so hard that all the wax was removed.
It is also way easier to apply A Glaze than people let on
This is my main reason for continuing to use the product on our 20m Princess
It is easy enough for us to apply without employing experts or much extra labour.
Finally in hotter climates (the Med for example) wax seems to "melt" and drop off quite quickly.
A Glaze is not a wax - it is a Polymer which seems to stay longer on the surface than wax in hotter climates.
