Boat in build pics (2013 Fairline Squadron 78)

There is no secrecy, other than that there are a number of options and I dont want to question competitor capabilities or solutions. There will also be no benefit to anyone else unless our guys can help fix it ... and more importantly help JFM understand why... so nothing to share.

With the late spring I have only started noticing spiders over the last few days. I expect their increased activity is mirrored in the insect population and hence when jfm puts some heat into their exoskeletens they start moving about. If it stops when the lights are switched off I'd say that's definitely what it is and the solution will be a dose of Raid and mebbe hang up a few sheets of flypaper. :D

Went down to Ipswich today and had a sneaky look through the hanger window.......couldn't resist! Looking fantastic, thought you might like to see where she will be when in the water ... i reckon the BIG space on the right!!! I do like to walk along that row of brand new Fairlines and think.....one day?!!(in my dreams!)

Yup alchemy, you have the berth right. They're light on boats because several have been taken by customers promptly. I guess they'll build up Match2 on Monday, launch Tuesday. Sea trial is Wednesday first thing

Magnificent jfm and I'm sure you'll fix the buzzing noise.

But, and I'm going to become really unpopular here, I'm not a fan of your square windows. As an engineer by training and knowing the Comet plane's problem stemmed from stress cracking starting at the corners of the square windows, I've never seen the logic of square windows since.

I'm sure the multidirectional strength of GRP will probably make stress cracking from these square windows unlikely, so I'm probably worrying about nothing. Or are they really ounded corners just can't see from the pics?

Colin the Comet analogy is flawed engineeringly. In comet the hole in the metal was square and the glass was merely clAmped in with rubber seals. In these boat windows the glass is bonded to the GRP forming more of a continuum than the comnt had (though not a perfect continuum because of flex in the glue). But yes there is a small radius in the corners of the hole in the GRP with rovings running across the putative corner crack and of course fatigue crack propagation in warm GRP is nothing like as bad as in aluminium sheet at minus 40 centigrade or whatever comet flew in. Plus this just ain't as mission critical as a plane window :-)

'She' is looking great JFM, your attention to detail is breathtaking. I hope your work comitments allow you to be there on Wednesday and I hope to have a look at The British Boat Show.

Hi JFM. After seeing Match 1 at Excel and marvelling at the development of Match 2 a question arises as to balance. With all the modifications, enhancements etc, how do Fairline ensure she, yes she, sits squarely in the water both bow to stern and port to starboard? Cheers Geoff.

I think this is why JFM has specc'd gold bullion on his bathroom wall. He claims it is a random pattern, I'm pretty sure he has worked out the weight distribution, and has ordered the bullion pattern accordingly :D

Having a little walk around Ipswich marina today and spotted some activity on this little beauty:-

JFM, in my very humble opinion the interior look fantastic! The silver sofa is a very nice touch. I also like the art deco -feel I get from the mirrors in the master bedroom and from the staircase. Very classy. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the saloon too.

Ooh, thanks Steve. Spy shots of my own boat! I guess they have launched it this evening. I'm just setting off for ipswich now so will reply to other posts later. Looking forward to a day out at sea tomorrow! Thanks for those pics!
