I might buy this 19ft trailer sailer, but I or the owner do not know what it is. Does anyone recognise this boat? Thanks.012.jpgP1080872.jpg
Thoughts?

I wonder if it might be a Calypso, which was designed by David Cannell (of Samphire 'fame'), and built by North Sea Craft of Norwich/Wroxham.

The pic on the trailer looks consistent with the Calypso's retracting twin keels, and the look of the front of the boat is consistent with the only pic I've ever found of one - there are few Calypsos about it seems. I guess they were rather expensive to build compared to the competition, and may have come out just as the British boat building industry was taking a pasting.

If it turns out to be a Calypso, I'd be grateful if you'd PM me any more pics you have.

One source of info might be whoever the boat was registered with (prominent number on side of boat).

I agree, she's a Calypso, I've just dug out the sales brochure from my nerdy teenager file !

I can't post pics on the new forum, but if anyone cares to PM me their e-mail address I'll happily copy it.

From the brochure,

designed by David M. Cannell

LOA 18'11"

LWL 15'9"

Displacement 1500lbs

Ballast weight is not mentioned

Draft keels up 1'

Sail area 155 sq ft

Built by North Sea Craft Ltd of Norwich.

Looks a fun lake boat.

Mioaw!

I don't know much about it, but a 'fun lake boat' would have been a curious digression from David Cannell's track record of tough, seaworthy boats.

Little Sister,

I didn't intend any slight, I was genuine; she looks like a lot of fun on somewhere like Windermere ( which I know can get quite lumpy ! ).

My only concern re coastal / offshore sailing would be the ballast setup, which I'd like some more details of if planning to do this.
