Just thinking about a time was crewing on a delivery from Hamble to LBS and there was not a boat hook, ever tyred to hook a buoy with a mop in a fast flowing river after 24 hr motoring in a slow rock and roll boat, and you needed a kip, and the lock did not open for 6 hours.
what I would have given for a boat hook that early morning!!!!!

You remember.
thick, blue and yuk.
then when you got bigger so to put it,
short gym skirts and white socks and useless bras. that could not support a feather.
bet they all wear track suits now!!! just to be PC.

and regulation swimsuits. navy blue. no support at all. cross over back. one size was supposed to fit all. as you ran around the pool it was difficult to stop things peeking out here there and everywhere !

Having joined a gym cos I had become an overweight, middle-aged, smoking stress monster, I started going in my old rugby gear. Oh no says missus you can't go dressed like that, everyone else is dead posh and you look like hlb after visiting the bottom of the Grand Union (to be fair I stuck out like a sore doodah, all those around me in Armani and Fcuku and stuff).

So I goes to the 'sports shop' to get me some new gear. I return to gym dressed in my new attire - all baggy silky shorts and Ali G top. I say it myself but I looked pretty fab.

There I am on the front line of the massed ranks of bikes that don't go anywhere giving it 50 mph and sweating like an old alsation. I've got the earphones plugged in listening to The Who at full whack and burning some serious calories.

Now there is a line of 6 of these cycling machines all facing the telly screens in front so everybody is engrossed. Out of the corner of my eye I sees one of the trainers wandering along chatting to my fellow masochists. She is a pretty little thing of about 25 and fit as a butchers. So I think to myself she's gonna love my new gear, she continues along the line until she gets to me (still headphones in and going like the clappers to impress the little darling).

She smiles one of those smiles that says 'God if only was 20 years older' and I smile back. She puts up her thumb to check all is OK and I reply in kind. She then points with 2 fingers at my new shorts and is clearly impressed, I reply with 2 thumbs up. She points again and nods at the shorts.

I look down.

To my horror I discover that I am displaying meat and 2 veg in all their glory.

I whip off the earphones, run out of the gym via the changing room. I was still speechless when I got home and have never been back.







I am still having counselling but I guess a bit of confessional helps.

I could laugh except that every word is true.

Sob sob.

who's slagging off hlb ???? he is pistively thin, doesn't need to cycle to loose weight tho we do, I've been on the grand union but doubt hlb has. why oh why is he in this "thread" as, he's well, ok really. scruffy sod that he is ....

boat hooks erm.. yes both boats we have them, haven't really looked at them closely, just grab em and do whatever when necessary. had all sorts over the years, never been involved with knicker elastic tho in that area at least
