I was wandering around a boat graveyard, sorry I meant boatyard, today. What was interesting was the prices that where attached to some of these vessels. "A bargain at £3000", £3000, that's how much you would have to spend just to make it float! You would struggle to give these boats away, never mind sell them. I think the sellers are the eternal optimists of the world, who abandoned their boats at a boat grave yard and stick some salutary price on and see if there is anybody who is prepared to stump up the cash.

Which is a real shame, because some of them where beautiful once.

I personally love paying 3 grand for a boat and then spending 3 grand on it. It may not be worth 6 grand, but it wont wear out for another fair few years, and in boating terms thats cheap.
I agree that some of them really are beyond the pale, especially as ownership of 'ordinary' wooden construction boats is losing favour. Lots of plastic 3 grand boats with much charm character and life left in them though. With a nuclear half life of 58 million years give or take a few million, I reckon GRP boats will amuse me for some time to come.
In my yard there are boats even more hopefully priced than that!! I would also say there are a couple of gems too....
