Boat gone green

I use Oxalic acid on GRP and on my teak decks with a medium brush. On the waterline I mix it into wallpaper paste then hose off to get rid of those nasty weed residues. Leaves the decks a lovely light brown colour. Oxalic acid can be bought easily in small quantities on E-Bay.

How do you remove the tiny black marks from mildew in canvas - say, a stack pack or a spray hood? I took my spray hood home last week and used Patio Magic to great effect on the green (algae?) that had formed in it over the last six months. But it's left with the tiny black flecks of mildew. Is there any way of removing these?

I went back to Amazon and bought a 5l bottle to do it again, but the green never came back..!
Mind you - now I can use it on the garage door and the rest of the house which has also gone green :D

I've got a 5 litre container that I want to take to the boat, I keep running out of weight allowance. They also do 2.5 litre containers, and at the moment they work out cheaper!

2.5 litre Patio Magic £8.50 with free P&P: http://amzn.to/1hoPojk
5 litre Patio Magic £17.99 with free P&P: http://amzn.to/1l20DUG

Thanks for the tips on oxalic acid - incredible stuff. I tried it on the transom and then did both sides. It was grubby and a bit mossy in places, and in 20 minutes it just hosed off. Extraordinary. It was a job I have been putting off for months.

I reckon a combination of Patio Magic and oxalic acid - sorted :D

I can't comment on it's efficacy, but bear in mind that Patio Magic is extremely toxic to water life, including fish, invertebrates and birds. Arguably ok to use on the hard, but you may find that you are contravening the rules of your marina if you start splashing it about on the water, never mind upsetting the mullet and anybody who cares even slightly about wildlife.
