Can anyone tell me what the material the vent pipe/flue is made of on the electrolux gas fridges. Any idea where I can buy a length . I'v tried Google with no luck . /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Not sure about the fridge, but the gas water heater I have uses a galvanised internal pipe, plus a light steel outer with powder coated epoxy coating and there is a significant air gap between the two.

its just lightweight steel if you are looking to extend it you should have fitted a stub with a pc of pipe at about 45deg on the top of the fle pipe then go off that, try your local caravan place they can get all spares for electrolux or look on this site you may get an answersbmcc.co.uk/forum/lofiversion/index.php?f43.html - 20k -

I have an electorlux vent pipe sitting in the garage...its aluminium and only about six inches long.
It was designed to go through the wall of a caravan with a plastic grill for the outside. I couldn't think of any reasonable way of venting from the galley to the outside world so I only use the fridge in 12v mode.
You can have the pipe, but I don't know what use it would be.
PM me if you want the thing (and if I can find it)

I have used a length of s/s flexible flue for a Mikuni diesel heater, lagged with a length of mineral wool/aluminium foil duct insulation (Rockwool). This has worked well for many years, I did originally use flexible aluminium but it corroded and dumped muck down onto the burner. I also replaced the aluminium plate/tube stub that fits to the outside with s/s for the same reason.

Thanks for your replies chaps . Certainly food for thought . Does the exhaust have to be air tight on its connection to fridge and OB vent ?? The reason I ask is that both conns are very short and of different size . /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You should have an offset 'Tee' piece that fits on top of the 'boiler' on the back of the fridge. The flue fits onto the upper branch. In some instalations it is possible to fit the o/b bracket straight onto the tee.

All I have is a vertical stub pipe of about 15mm protruding out of the lagged thingy at the back of the fridge. The pipe being about 15mm dia .

OK, you have at least one bit missing then. The tee is an essential part, the top section is at about 30 degrees to the horizontal and is open at both ends. The flue goes on the upper stub and cool air is drawn through the lower leg by convection of the heat and combustion gases that rise through the lagged boiler. Do you have the installation instructions? If not send me a PM with your email and I'll send them to you - it should all be clear then.
