Seems you are making up your own distinction. "Boats for sale as a punt" is a term I have never heard before and have difficulty in understanding what it might mean. If you mean the boat is not actually for sale then why not just say so - in which case as suggested commercial listing sites don't care, they just collect the listing fees. However an owners' association may take a different view and prefer to only accept adverts from members that are genuine attempts to sell. How this is determined is rather difficult without knowing the reasons why there are concerns about whether the advert is not a serious attempt to sell.
Ouch. Sorry id not heard the term èither. Hence the post. Of course the boat was for sale. Ive had like we all have to. make my own interpretation of a word and have done so. For sale but not desperate. For or arround the advertised price. Hence my statement its no different to any other add other than a reluctance to drop the price dramatically to sell urgently.

Tranona,
Your well respected with a level head(like me actually) so lets say you had listed your boat for sale. honest and concise advert. it had been listed for 3 weeks. you had shown 2 people the boat. sent lots of pics. been helpful to enquiries. gone down and spent hours showing the boat to two people. enjoyed meeting them and one of them thanking you in writing for such an honest advert and being accommodating. ( i cant post it it would be wrong)

To then recieve an email from a honcho saying is you boat really for sale. if so fine, but if its a punts please remove it from the site. I have the integrity of the site to protect. You mind wonder why.!!. Now I dont want to air anything in public and im not going too but its really puzzled me why. Infact I probably know why, but the fact remains For me to deal with it mentally I asked opinion what others might think the term meant. The term punt is not rocket science, I think my interpretation was not to off the mark.

What would you have done if you had received it.? I suspect exactly what I did, offer to provide written feedback from the viewers and pretty much encourage the chap to mind his own business.

You can understand why a website is cautious in these circumstances. It doesn't do their reputation any good to have loads of boats advertised that aren't really for sale. Presumably they have had some bad experiences.

I doubt if it has anything to do with the ad itself, the price or anything. Probably best not to be offended and just send them a polite reply saying that yes it is genuinely for sale...

Have you got a picture of the 'for sale' boat?

Living near Oxford I know a Punt when I see one.............................. ;)

My girlfriend said “me or the boat” once, so I drove her home and went back to the boat. I told the new girlfriend this story and she’s been smarter. The ex confirmed the story at a recent party ?
In the early 60s , my mother issued a similar ultimatum to my Pa, but it was over his 1928 Rolls Royce.

What irked her, was he took a week to think it over. The car got the heave-ho.

They’re still together all these years later.

The famous version of that is "Your Money or Your Life", though it didn't take Jack Benny a week to think about it!

When I proposed to my wife I made it clear & she often quotes it to people who ask why she puts up with my going sailing so long
" marry me marry my boat".
53 years later & i suspect she is quite happy that I b..ger off for a while. She gets to go on lots of golf holidays,( covid aside) Uk & abroad, & I encourage her to do so.. Never any question about how much either of us spend.
Probably why it is 53 years & I can never recall an arguement between us. _ Apart from the odd "F off" or "B..x" .But that is marriage for you.
