Boat folk boat services

It’s been ok in England to use your boat since June until a week ago, not the case in Wales unless you live local.
I have legally been able to use my boat 12 weeks this year out of 41 and counting, that idiot in charge of Wales has been playing politics all year and I’m now voting with my wallet, lots of others are also talking about it.
Boatfolk’s attitude in Conwy hasn’t helped either, not one single photo or mail to let me know everything is ok unless I chase them, happy to take the money though, their attitude has stunk this year in my mind but others might disagree.
I’m moving to a MDL marina, so far the experience has been like chalk and cheese.

All I can say is it was wonderful if a bit cold on the river this weekend

A member of staff at boatfolky said;
it’s simply a choice, Paul and Karen North wales Marine have joined us and are on site as always as are all the other contractors. We can offer a package when your boat is lifted to get your boat straight back in to enjoy more time on the water!

So here you have it mr seastoke, tell the marina to Kiss your @rse and deal direct. simples.

Better yet, do it yourself and to your sattisfaction. That way at least you know when a job has been done right and when it hasn't.

Having gone and read up on Conwy Mariners it seems you can go to the contractor direct. What the Marina is offering you makes a lot of sense. A one stop shop where they manage a multitude of contractors on your behalf to get the job done timeously and with effort to keep on budget. This to me makes a lot of sense in it gets you back in the water faster and keeps the yard turning efficiently so you are not all moaning because you cant get back into the water because of the waitinglist and the organised chaos that is a yard being run by 100 different "project managers". If I wasn't maintaining my own boat I'd see that as a definite plus.

I can appreciate the contractor may not be your preferred but if it is run and endorsed by the marina you can expect a certain standard of profficiency and if that's not to your liking do as many others are. Get yard services elsewhere. Dickies is doing a roaring trade as are all the others down the Menai. Not to mention Rhyll (yes I was surprised) all the way to Liverpool. Why gnaw on the shell when the world is your Oyster, or is it misdirected frustration due to the lockdown? Your own Piñata to beat? Hell I'm no ghetto lover and cant stand the marina life but even I think you're being a bit of a grump.

I am waiting for the T and Cs but I am happy as the price is the same and as Bruce says there is only one stop to discuss the job, and Bruce you will be pleased we get 10% off jobs now. Luckily I am working at the Valley on Tuesday so will be able to stop off at the marina to do my daily exersize.

I think you're being a bit of a grump.
Ha Ha, I have been called alot of things but never grump, made me laugh.

I understand what you're saying but I look at it from the point of;
things start small then escalate, (airport tax), the minute the control goes over 55%, they have done it, the last 45% is easy, when they have control it will be;
all jobs now must go through us ?
then sorry you can't anti foul your own boat.
Contractors who don't play ball (lower there prices etc) will be history,
local contactors will be earning less, (Tesco does it to there suppliers). squeeze the profit out.
some contractors are not vat Q , but BF are which will make the bill 20% more (barry the buffer).
Boat folk aren't doing this because they are nice. they are taking control,
They earn enough from berths, lifts etc,

We all know boating is expensive and we don't need more expense for the same ride.

Why am I bothered you ask, I am not even in that marina ?
1, every marina will follow.
2, rumours, our marina is up for sale and they are candidates to buy.

the rules and regs at conwy start in the car park !
parking permits, don't park in a yellow bay unless,
if you are going out on your boat for more than 3 days, hand your car keys in at the office.

Trust me, this is the start.

I aggree with more control especialy diy , as boat bolk are responsible for helth and safety on their land . ihave seen many araggie using a grinding disc on his sreel keel to get the rust off along side a newish boat along by the side of it , no screens etc , the car parking needs to be polced there was live aboards with old vans and cars not used, space has a value

When are you doing a beach barbie with bruce and co .

Well boys. I've always said. Harbour life, beats ghetto life, hands down. Of course managing to secure a berth there is another story. But I have means. Means needs lubrication and libation. Let the bidding start.

I am happy to pay extra to keep away from you, even the commodore, of your yacht club has come in the marina , out of the way.
