Fire on a boat in Santa Margarida last night as homeowners slept inside
A Facebook translate, I won’t ask how the Belgium’s got to Spain.

A couple of Belgians, owners of the boat, suffered burns at different parts of the body and had to jump in the water to save his life.

Last night after 23 pm, local police in Roses were alerted by a Santa Margarida neighbor that a boat was burning near his home and saw a woman jumping in the water.

Upon arrival, Municipal Security Officers checked that in fact, in the mooring area of Residencial Port Gran, specifically at No. 46, there was a boat burning.

Two people were found at the scene, a Belgian couple, who told police that the boat belongs to them. According to the 67-year-old woman, they had arrived in Roses yesterday afternoon, and the fire broke out as they slept. The wife was able to get off the boat breaking a skylight to throw herself in the water, and her husband just had time to catch their little dogs, to secure them on another boat next door.

Two Roses firefighters went to the scene, and ended the disaster in two hours. A maritime rescue ship also had to move to create an anti-pollution lockdown barrier around the shipwrecked.

The couple had to receive SEM ambulance medical care for various burns across different parts of the body, and after an initial assessment, the man and his wife were taken to the SEM primary care facility in Roses.

The boat ended up sinking with all the personal belongings of Belgian tourists.

:-(
based on how boat electrics end up after 20odd years of owner "intervention" and "innovation", it's amazing that not more than a few go up in flames every month...

Don't know how they did it either, we are not allowed out the country unless it is for something essential, on the other hand they would be allowed to go if they had to fix something urgently onboard but they may find they get a fine when they get back to Belgium.
