Boat explosion and fire Harleyford

still needed to figure out how to get through the lock though? if they dumped it at Harleyford they would have had to get off the estate as well?

"Pump_Out" (who he?) said:-
"Boat then set on fire and cast adrift, adjacent to Freebody's."

So I assumed they hand wound the lock as one can do 24/7, but thinking, they would still need to take the boat below the little island below the lock for it to have drifted on to "The Spit" - I would have thought the stream should have carried it down to the bridge or Temple weir.

Still 'tis done and idle speculation may not provide any useful information

Ok the truth - sorry....

Well at least I know I'm in good company then...

Sorry to end this sorry tale but I can now give you the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth....ok dont hold me to that but I can give you the true version of events according to Harelyford who have of course been in touch with what they know.

Its in their interests to do so as the boat did end up on their grounds and did damage two boats.

So set yourself up with a cup of tea, turn "This Morning" off and settle down..

A twin engine "sports boat" was indeed stolen from Hambledon Mill Marina in the early hours of the morning. It was unusual as it had twin 15hp outboard motors, it had only been there a short while and two further boats were moved in order to access this boat and take it away.

It then motored down stream to "Frogs Mill Spinney" where another boat was stolen this time with a 25hp outboard motor. Both boats proceeded down river and through the lock this is where the single engine boat was set fire to and it is believed the outboard was stolen before it was set on fire.

It was then set adrift and due to the wind that night blew across the river and ended up between two steel boats on the lawn area at Harleyford.

And that my friends is what according to the police, fire brigade, lock keepers and Harleyford happened that night ...

The twin engine boat has not been seen since.

Thank you and goodnight...

At last, I can now sleep safely in the knowledge that the truth is out :-)

Would still love to meet the toe rags that did it. I hear the blunt end of boat hook inserted where the sun don't shine works as a deterrent...
