Boat dogs

I've had springer spaniels on board. They both loved the water and being in the dinghy especially. Both climbed a near vertical boarding ladder with little difficulty. Not too big to lift and carry when necessary, rather muddy when they got ashore if the boat was dried out but fine on moorings, pontoons or at anchor. Get a dog you like and can lift up and take it boating as soon as you can.

Newfoundland. Bred for MOB recovery!

That was my first crew when I called a dinghy "solo". Great dogs just don't try learning to wind surf, fall of rescue swim back out. Great stamina they have too..

My boat dogs where Working Cockers, they loved it no question.

I think most dogs if introduced correctly like being afloat. It's the pack thing you are all together. Just some did are more suitable than others...

Our black Lab loves the water but hates the pontoons...never mind the boat...major contributing factor in us not sailing enough this year!

This one is no problem, soon sleeps
