Hello, im looking for the best books on wooden cabin cruiser power boat building. Preferably plywood, but also clinker bottoms could be good also. Many thanks in advance...

Not that I have ever built a boat but in my library is 'Complete Amateur Boat Building' by Michael Verney (3rd edition 1979). It covers a wide range of materials and techniques. I consult it if I need to do anything that doesn't involve fibreglass.
I looked at a more recent edition and it did not seem as useful.

Alahol2's suggestion is good.

Also 'Building Chine Boats' by the same author.

And 'Boatbuilding' by Howard Chappelle describes all kinds of wooden boat building in great detail, including chine boats with traditional carvel planking.

I'm currently borrowing a book by Don Casey, called This Old Boat. Printed 1991.

It contains hundreds of well ilustrated hints and tips about fixing wood and GRP boats, their equipment and furniture.

He has also written more up to date version with more pictures and diagrams.

Was thinking of getting this book with a view to helping me update the inside of a 1979 Southerly, would you recommend it ?

Paul Fisher www.selway-fisher.com has a number of manuals on modern ply boatbuilding. In the US Sam Devlin is big in modern plywood www.devlinboats.com The Verney book already mentioned is the best on "traditional" framed hard chine construction. Watercraft magazine in UK is a good source as is Woodenboat in the US.
