I wonder if the answer is that when they discussed the possibility amongst themselves they realised that they had too much else going on, or too much that they felt would be more remunerative in terms of their time/effort in relation to their commission.

IMHO folk are generally very poor at saying they’ve changed their minds or that they simply don’t want to do something and, often, this results in behaviour that is more annoying than if they straightforwardly said at the outset, ‘Lovely boat. We’d be happy to handle it if you ever wanted to sell. But not right now; we’re just too busy.’

Hey they can do what they want. If you had dug out all the paperwork I had too, and left the boat ready like I had with canvas on ready for them to appraise and take good pictures and waited weeks having had to chase them and they could not be bothered and called your boat old and tired when they actually bothered to eventually turn up, you might be disappointed.

Yes I heard back from the Broker. Apparently he believed after receiving all the documentation back and indicating when he would view the boat. he believed he could view the boat when ever he was passing. nearly two months later. He frequently declines to Market boats he feels will not sell over the winter months. I have suggested he changes the Sxxxe on his website then, where He states he will carry out a no obligation appraisal and valuation with market guidance.to ill have a peep and not bother doing anything other than walking away unless it falls within his selected profile .

This is interesting as I immediately thought of Mark Cameron Yachts because of your boat location and various comments on your posts over the years. No opinion on Mark Cameron Yachts as I have never used them, or solicited opinion on them.

I am surprised that they were not interested as they have a lot of similar yachts (filter low to high price) Boats for Sale - Mark Cameron Yachts - Specialist Sail and Motorboat Brokerage

He thinks he can operate at his own speed and pick and choose when he likes, just whenever it took his fancy. never realised he needed to call or email. if it does not fit his selective profile, he does not do what he states he will do. not one single specific comment or critisism of my boat.

I had a really good experience with Mark Cameron. Have always recommended them to people.
Hi
Wonder how people can end up in such different opinions. I’m sure I’d have been content if he had acted in a reasonable timescale and carried out some sort of appraisal and marketing advice. I think he has been rude and unprofessional.
I bet there is more to this than I’m aware off. It is a small world.

Now think that’s more like it😀much better with a bit of humour.

Needs forgetting about and moving on. Bloody frustrating though.

Well it can’t be forgotten about because this thread is now in place annd associates Mark Cameron Yachts with shit service. Perhaps contacting them and asking them to respond would be an idea, to move on.

However, easier for others to judge, if they look at Google Reviews, all but 2 are 5 stars, with one 4 star and one 1 star. The one star from 2 years ago is a very similar complaint to yours.

This suggests that Mark Cameron Yachts had consistently provided a good service over many years. Of course, standards can slip.

He is perfectly at liberty to explain why he waited nearly 2 months to see boat. Then simply say tired and old.

As I’ve said he has provided no explanation other his other boat at bottom end of market has not sold.
Given what he says on his website about an appraisal and valuation which really is quite common with a broker viewing a vessel. Would you have expected some along those lines. What would you have expected having provided all the documentation and waited nearly two months.
I was also reluctant to say who it was but was question to why I had not.
So it really matters not how he has performed in the past. I’m only interested in the service he was providing me, which I think was poor. Not sure how it could be deamed anything else.

Of course I’ve messaged him.I’ve had no information provided at all on the condition of my boat. He simply states he frequently rejects vessels if he thinks they will be difficult or slow to sell. If he had viewed when he originally planned to id not have waited so long would I. He originally said contessa 32 sell fairly quickly.

For the record I don’t Doubht this is a one off. I’m sure he provides a very good service to many people. But it has not worked for me.

I don't understand what the brokers cost is other than an hour at most to load up the details on his website and the time he has taken to view the boat.
I don’t understand why he could not have just given the boat an appraisal and market value to sell. Then I could have thanked him for his time and decided what I would do.
Liability of having to show potential customers the boat. That’s the cost. And he’s busy so he has to take a pragmatic approach. That’s fine but don’t keep your clients waiting for ages while you pick and choose.

Now I’ll shut up as I’ve made my points clear. Yes you are correct it does or could have a negative impact on the business which I don’t want to do. I made this abundantly clear from the onset but was encouraged to do so.

His comments tired and old and no thanks hit me dam hard. He has Appologies for perhaps using the wrong terminology. Id not think of using his services again but I’m sure it was perhaps a one off. Just bear in mind they approached me on a pontoon though!!!!
