Right, I'll leave a knife out with a lawyer's phone no. and a label ' please stab yourself ' then let them say I did it from miles away - amateur lawyers are possibly a worse menace than criminals nowadays; my motto as to boat thieves is ' Bugger them, full speed ahead ! " :)

How often fo see motorist not giving way on the assumption they are right?

If they continue it results in an altercation and an accident. Time lost exchanging pov's, filling in forms etc.

Net worth gained is both lose their NCB because it is not a No Blame Bonus., all over a little bit of road and sheer macho stupidity.

I'd suggest you are the one displaying ' macho stupidity ' trying to be an amateur lawyer; yes I'll defend who and what are dear to me, perhaps somewhat robustly; they can sort out the niceities later, but I wouldn't have asked the berks in so that's what they get...:)

We normally spend 10-15 days a year overnight on the club pontoon. mostly spring and autumn and always found it quiet and peaceful. Problem is now my SWHBO (who quite likes the acronym) is feeling quite jittery about our personal safety on the pontoon which is pretty deserted over winter evenings and totally deserted at night. I am not as concerned as her but might feel different when walking the dogs ashore on a black night!

Not sure how i'm being macho tbh? Have i challenged anyone to fight, threatenned tobox ears?

This is a forum where opinions are aired with hopefully mutual respect, have i shown you anything else?

I was highlighting very common behaviour, where two untrained people pit their 'knowledge' of the law against each other in a duel - and both will loose.

Did you recognise your own previous behaviour in this when driving perhaps?

If so, very sorry if i unintentionally struck an open nerve ? .

You haven't struck me as anything but a jumped up amateur lawyer.
So you agree then?

i don't claim to be a lawyer, in fact if it was not for the criminals i'd have to had got a real job.

I've been in the intruder alarm snd CCTv industries since i was 18, run my own installation and servicing compay since '86.

During thar time i worked for Combat Alarms, who used to advertise within 4 hours of your call they could instal an system - and we did.

Very basic, controls had coffee table legs and got plonked next to a convenient socket. Wires were literally held in place with Medical tape, founle sided tap for contacts, only thing screwed down was the external bell.

It usually gave the female partner a sense of restored security until the main system was installed.

Service engineers carried an emergency pack, so often attended in less than half an hour.

We then had to wait while scenes of crimes did their bit, big rich house would usually attract the CPO's attendance. I can't do any work, meanwhile husband is raging what he would fo if he had the chance, CPO advising most threats would cause the husbands own prosecution snd jail.

So i have listened over and over to an informed opinion in this area of revenge in my time, think i can claim some knowledge.

I often get a call after an intrusion has occurred, by this time the husband is wiring door handles to the mains, arranging sledge hammers or scoulding hot eater to fall from ceiling as doors are opened, cat gut or cheese wire across doorways.

I've spent a lot of time on dissuading them.

So back to you, you don't care if an innocent person, or curious child, perhaps a disabled person gets to suffer the efects your 'remedy', collateral damage is no affair if yours then?

I'l leave you to think sbout that 'justice' through.

Thanks for your comment-the one I was thinking off does not dial home but does have a separate siren/strobe that can be in another part of the boat say a locked head with a window to show the strobe flashing. Ultrasecure say there is a 15 second delay before the base sounder goes and another 15 secs before the secondary siren/light triggers. Sounds very good in theory!

That one looks much better. Do let me know how it works out if you get one as I may consider something similar for my boat when she arrives. Cheers.

All this because I mentioned chocolate cake made of laxatives; thank christ I didn't mention the land mines made of shotgun cartridges, the trained Great Whites or the rake left on the pontoon with the poison tips ! :)

Well, 1st example is a fire arms or exsplosive offence, should it succeed will likely blow your boat clean out if the water.

Don't think (that means i don't know) even the best trained great whites do not habitat fresh water.

What legal excuse could you have for having a rake's tips dipped with poison left about anywhere?

The chocolate cake, and cookies might get by if they are gluten and peanut free and of course fair trade .

Update after my break in. My insurers Navigators & General dealt with the claim in exemplary fashion in only a couple of days and went beyond their strict legal obligations of the insurance and exceeded my expectations. Very refreshing to deal with a company not looking to weasel out of its obligations-well done them!
The Ultra Secure Wireless alarm I fitted is very, very loud and the blue flashing strobe quite bright. The system has a door switch, sounder in the forward cabin, a PIR with a sounder and a strobe&sounder in the bathroom. I was a bit worried about the PIR developing false alarm and getting worrying texts in the middle of the night but a month in it seems fine with no false actuations. I think I will also get a wireless pressure pad to go under a floormat outside the door to sound if anyone is in the cockpit.
