Some professional security types may want to feed into the elf n safety myth, but having worked with REAL H & S people they are very common sense people.

I rather doubt one one would be prosecuted for the pro-active ' assualt by chocolate laxative cake '.

Runs a live cattle wire around your stantions!!! Make sure you have a sign attached 'danger high voltage'. Then you are covered!

Little ****ers will think twice!!!

That's pretty barbaric! Have you never broken a law? I'm sure you must have exceeded the speed limit at some point in you life? Trespassed in a closed park? it will be the rope for you I'm sure. Great way to reduce the population tho!!!

Talking about criminal acts not fking speeding.

The idea of setting up an electric fence via the guardwires has been suggested - and tried - since the 60's, sadly it seems a no-goer, due to the snags with earth / steady current drain etc.

A PIR light and alarm with a stroppy boat owner seems to work well in my experience, and I wonder if a paintball gun - ideally firing some sort of ' smart water ' detectable non - lethal rounds - might be an idea.

Also, remember if one gets into hand to hand combat, try to scratch the assailant - at least this will hopefully leave a DNA guide to them under one's fingernails, if one comes second in an altercation !

There are various criminal acts which are stupid d&d for example. The British get drunk and stumble home often singing. This is d&d criminal offence! Enough said really

There is a difference between an accident, neglegence and malicious intent.

So you want to play at being a silicitor and risk a court case, and further letting a hated low life get the last laugh over you? Honestly?

People have been prosecuted for a prank of adding a substance to food or drink intentioally causing harm.

It will look really nice on your CV ot CRB check.

What happens if it is a child who has wandered into your now unlocked boat, the crim having left it open, ignored due the chocolate cookie fearing his own nutts allergy perhaps?

Next time you roll your eye's please make sure to be looking in a mirror.

For those who think how would the Police know, if a diliberate act, i suggest Google the product and the members name and see what pop's up in a few days.

If your just blowing of steam or thinking of doing a criminal act, best not duscuss it on social media channels, where anyone can read it.
(because thats really stupid ? ).

What has happened that if you drive an uninsured car and have an accident no matter who hit who the uninsured driver was always at fault because they should not of been there why is it not the same for someone that should not of been on my boat I believe that if someone breaks into my boat and cuts there hand on a knife I left on the table he could sue me for it
How can that be wright
Shorly what ever happens it is due to there own consequence of being somewhere they should not be

i grew up in a foreign country. Glass cemented into the top of walls was there to hurt intruders and rightly so!!! being an adventurous youth with a love of climbing, I still wear the scars today.... Note it was our external wall to the compound we lived on.

As i said earlier, it is if intentional harm was intended by leaving out the doctored cookies.

Leaving your knife out is negligence if somebody is later harmed by it, but you was not intended to cause harm.

The uninsurred driver has an accident he may be charged in addition for manslaughter or driving without due car and attention.

They may well be sued privately for any injuries and damages caused.

Unfortunately, most peoples sense of justice and legislation, are not happy bedfellows.

Strangely I am planning to pick up one of their wireless alarm on my way to the boat. They look very good. Is your link a reference having used them of just a source idea?

I had one that looked identical to this in my shed. Nice idea but didn't work as I'd hoped. Upon triggering it gave a warning beep and red flashing led with a 30 second delay before alarm would actually sound. Plenty of time for the intruder to smash it to bits (it's already given its position away remember and is in a rather flimsy plastic case). It also wouldn't call home until the alarm had stopped going. May be worth checking if this logic has changed before making the purchase.

Thanks for your comment-the one I was thinking off does not dial home but does have a separate siren/strobe that can be in another part of the boat say a locked head with a window to show the strobe flashing. Ultrasecure say there is a 15 second delay before the base sounder goes and another 15 secs before the secondary siren/light triggers. Sounds very good in theory!

Right, I'll leave a knife out with a lawyer's phone no. and a label ' please stab yourself ' then let them say I did it from miles away - amateur lawyers are possibly a worse menace than criminals nowadays; my motto as to boat thieves is ' Bugger them, full speed ahead ! " :)

It's only a boat, make sure it's insured with a reputable insurer. While revenge and punishment are quite natural instincts I would not want the hassle of any finger being pointed at me claiming assault, or whatever, on a burglar, even if I was later found innocent.

Just don't let anyone see you tying their shoe laces to the anchor before throwing it in ?
