Just out of interest (I obviously don't need some right now, it's in the box!) has anyone found a source for 3 pair Cat 5E cable? I wasn't even aware this was a thing and the sheer number of Ethernet cables out there seems to be blocking me from finding the 3 pair stuff. I realise there's a very obvious answer of not using one pair but I have OCD so really need to find some :D

Use standard CAT5 cable but don't use 2 of the wires........

I feel like you misread the question :D I know I can do that, but I also know that 3 pair exists because it's in the kit. What I need is to know where I can buy more!

Cat 5E is standard 8 core twisted pair cable, never seen 6 core for years, used something similar in old telephone days.

Cat 5E seems to be the standard for the twisting of the pairs. I definitely have some Cat 5E on my desk with 3 pairs and it's written as such on the side along with the relevant standards it complies with. I have found 3 pair telephone cable and some of it does look twisted but none is described as UTP or Cat 5E or anything like that, it's just called 3 pair telephone cable which is driving me mad. I may order some and take a look :D
