blue bulbs

that is a good point Eugene can anyone confirm this

When purchasing LED lamps for any boat do ensure that they have in built constant-current control circuits, these circuits enable LED lamps to be used both whilst on the battery and when batteries are charging at higher voltages. Charging voltages on 12V systems can cycle up to 16V on most modern chargers and approach 30V on 24 Volt systems. Many of the better quality lamps also have electronic self-resetting fuses and voltage transient (spike) protection, the latter useful to deal with voltage transients caused, for instance, by sudden de-loading of alternators and the use of anchor windlasses. Self resetting fuses also offer valuable over temperature protection, shutting the LED lamp down in the event that it overheats. This attribute should address some comments from others in respect of potential fire risk that can exist when using low quality resistor controlled lamps.

I have some 'Ice Blue' lamps which I fitted in down lighters on my boat and can confirm that the visual effect in the cockpit is stunning.

The CE mark thingy -
Either means C hina E xport or

Certificate of European conformity .

The latter is differentiated by having a CE number under the mark also stamped / printed on the goods - and will be supplied with operating or fitting instructions -
The font for both CE symbols often identical .

Useful to hear, thanks Shawn. I want to put some lights on our fly steps, so will contact Adrian.

How are you getting on with the Phantom?

Yep rang him today sat pm whilst on the boat he did not mind at all very helpfull sent me a link of the bulb i required and i just added the quantity req and paid for them through his site all very helpfull and simple

Regards the boat sat on her now loving it sooooooo glad i had a flybridge now just loads of living space dead chuffed

Great stuff Shawn. Lets have some pics then please?

I just build my own LED lighting, LED's cheap, current controlled resistors £1 per 100 and voltage regulators about 15p each.

Adrian,

Any suggestions for lighting my fly stairs?

I would suggest that you keep it simple and fit a single low-profile courtesy light above each tread. Sealed LED courtesy lights have the benefit of low current consumption and are waterproof, they also have a long service life. The light aperture of these fixtures are designed to provide glare-free lighting of both steps and deck. The light cone radiates downwards at an angle of around 30° nicely lighting the step.

The picture below is one type of fixture we have supplied to many motor yacht owners. The lights come in either blue or white light output with a choice of white or chrome effect capping and are quite easy to fit. The lighting effect is both subtle and adequate for crew to see the steps and for others to admire from afar. Lighting steps is increasingly popular with the advent of low power LED lighting.

Thanks Adrian. Struggling to identify these on your web site.
