Blog Hosting

It occurred to me that I ought to give Wordpress a fair go having not actually tried it out

That lasted about a minute and a half at which point I discovered it would cost me $30 to be allowed to customise the header picture on my blog. Thanks, but no thanks since that is free (like everything else) on Blogger

In fact, to match, let alone exceed, the free capabilities of Blogger is a premium (and thus chargeable) product with Wordpress (although without doubt if you've the time, inclination and money Wordpress is the more capable product)

I'm a (happy) Blogger user as well, but Wordpress does have one useful feature - Wordpress has an option to import a blog from an external source so basically you use it as a (free) data back up for your Blogger blog.... all I do is repeat the backup every month, and tick the box not to publish the Wordpress version.... :D

Installing Word press on your own hosted site is the way to go. Free to download, Very easy to set up and customise and you can have complete control of how it looks and what features to have. Doesn't cost you to change the header picture. There are many add-ons which allow you to do all sorts. Lots of help and tutorials out there on line too.

I think with the proliferation of Pads and phones then a lot of websites will need to be redesigned so they become reactive and will re size automatically to the device they are being used on. (See, I have learnt something).
Now to sort my widgets and plugins out.
