Hi All, I'll pop something in the lounge too but I hear that mobo owners aren't short of a few bob so I thought I'd chance my arm here first :)

Please consider donating to the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity that I am fundraising for. I am undertaking a 100km Cycle Ride between London and Brighton overnight on the 20th September. You'll see from the photo in the link below that I have some serious training to do to get into shape for the event, hitting my initial £100 target early will be a huge incentive as I'll then be assured of a place.

Please do consider donating, it's a fantastic cause and one that is close to my heart. I'll be cycling with a good mate (along with my son) who's beaten cancer (thus far), a young lady nicknamed 'little Deb' in her late 30's who's been super dooper fit (kick boxer) all her life until the decease decided it was her turn to give it a kicking a year ago. Little Deb got her nickname from her netball mates, my missus, was 'big Deb' playing in the same team. Little Deb is fit enough now to take part in the cycle ride with this event being one of many things she does as a sort of payback for the wonderful help she's received over the last 12 months in beating the big C. I am getting involved to do likewise as frankly, she's been a inspiration to me and many of our friends, including my wife.

Further details can be found here (have a little read of my story): http://www.justgiving.com/Gary-Pearson4

Hopefully to give this a little perspective, a ten or twenty quid donation I'd imagine would be equal to taking a short displacement speed passage at some point in 2014 rather than planing the journey.

Again, hope you do decide to contribute, it'd be greatly appreciated if you did

cheers Gary

Thanks Bosun for your donation :encouragement:

I am taken aback by the responses so far. Just £10 to go and I've hit the first target in super quick time. no excuses but to go ahead and do this thing once £100 of donations have been reached :encouragement:

crikey Jon, I've just checked the status of my Just Giving page and spied your donation. thanks so much for your generosity, a beer on me for sure on the 1st March (hope you can make it).

thanks again, Gary

Likewise Paul (P4Paul) another amazingly generous donation from yourself, very much appreciated mate to take the donations thus far to the £200 milestone target!!! thankyou

Trev (Superheat6k), Russ, SailfreeS25 (Roger?), Murv & David (Flower Power), thanks also for putting your hands in your pockets to make significant donations. Truely heart warming to receive your support. many thanks guys :)

John, what can I say, thank you so so much. I am running out of ways to express my gratitude to the good people of this forum who've donated.. your most generous gesture is simply overwhelming. thanks again, and again, and again, and..... ad infinitum :)

cheers Gary

I take it you have Dunstable Steve (Spielberg) booked to film the event........

now there's a thought :) If I can't secure his services due to him filming the latest Brit Block Buster, I'll have to make do with my JVC Addixion action cam that I'll have strapped to the handlebars of the bike doing a bit of time lapse filming. Won't go for the continuous filming as 6 hours of me huffing and puffing'll grate on the most patient mans nerves :)

My friend has just been told of your generosity, she's 'welling up' apparently. well done peeps of the YBW forum, you're amazing!

I thought it may be appropriate to post a few photos. This is Little Deb before the cancer got hold of her

During her treatment, apparently lollipops help :)

I don't have a recent photo but suffice to say she's on the mend :)
