Hi all, I hope you don't mind a mobo bod coming onto Scuttle B cap in hand asking for money
I've been brought up on a good dose of 'you don't ask, you don't get' so I thought I'd chance my other arm on here... see this thread where I chanced my first arm (http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?386312-Blatant-non-boaty-plug-for-your-hard-earned).
This post is a request asking you to bolster the donations my son (Jamie) has received so far for an event we've both entered to cycle 100km between London and Brighton overnight on the 20th September in aid of Breast Cancer research.
The kindly folk of the mobo forum have been amazingly generous (a massive understatement) having donated over £1k in the last 24hrs via my Just Giving page. My son has got his Just Giving page up and running today and is hoping to raise sufficient donations (£100) to secure his place in the event.
Jamie is a student and will be seeking donations through his part time workplace and student union but typically, his immediate friends and colleagues have very little for their own needs never mind giving to charity so hopes are not particularly high that he'll reach the levels of donations required to take part in the ride, hence me posting this message asking for help.
His mum and one of her friends have got him off to a good start but he needs more. £100 by 9th August and £200 by the 19th Sept. Jamie was also adamant that he would cover the £20 entry fee, which he has done.
Furthermore, I'll be cycling with a good mate (along with my son) who's beaten cancer (thus far), a young lady nicknamed 'little Deb' in her late 30's who's been super dooper fit (kick boxer) all her life until the disease decided it was her turn to give it a kicking a year ago. Little Deb got her nickname from her netball mates, my missus, was 'big Deb' playing in the same team. Little Deb is fit enough now to take part in the cycle ride with this event being one of many things she does as a sort of payback for the wonderful help she's received over the last 12 months in beating the big C. We're both getting involved to do likewise as frankly, she's been a inspiration to me, Jamie and many of our friends, including my wife.
Again, I do hope you do decide to contribute, it'd be greatly appreciated if you did.
Here's Jamie's Just Giving page: http://www.justgiving.com/jamie-pearson3 should you decide to do so.
Kindest Regards Gary
