I have had to remove a Blakes seacock from the hull, which went without problems, but what do I use to bed it with?
When removing the seacock, after 12 years in place, the bottom plate was covered in a soft, slightly sticky yellowy goo, which appeared to be a sort of grease. It was easily removed with cleaning petrol.
So what do I use to bed it on the hull? Try grease again? Sikaflex, which might prevent easy removal in another 12 years' time? Anything else? I have to add that due to the place where it is fitted, I will not be able to get leverage under the bottom plate with a screwdriver.
Many thanks
