Black unlit Buoy ?????

I see yesterday that the red lit buoy just downstream of Hammersmith Bridge has been replaced by a black buoy with no light.

What does a black buoy signify? Its a bit dangerous too being invisable at night.

Can anyone advise on this issue?

Good idea- so I did.


Its a black unit buoy because some swine covered it with spirit at 0340hrs Friday and lit a match.

Its a burnt out unlit buoy now.


Soon to be replaced i'm told. There are going to be loads more soon I understand as the system appears to work keeping the rowers to that side.

But Jezz, Tony, who would burn a nav mark like that - need a boat to get to it too......

Agree, shame as I was away boating.

But unsure who would have been around that early...


Last night it had been removed completely.
