I was over in the yard at Le Marin, Martinique when I spotted this.

View of starboard hull from underneath. Bad but not as bad as some I’ve seen.

Here’s the port side’s rudder.

However here’s starboard hull from another angle:

I wonder what the insides like. How did it stay afloat?

It’s a newish Lagoon 560. That’s a BIG insurance claim….

It's fine, it's only a charter boat. Stuff in some old newspapers, slap a layer or two of fibreglass over that, paint with antifoul. Won't have to last long, the next customer will put it on the reef again anyways. When it exits the charter business, some poor bastard who bought it without a thorough survey can then fix it properly and make a youtube channel to finance it! :ROFLMAO:

Reminds me of a car repair I heard of. Botcher could not bother to get proper filler and just used a bit of mud. After being damp for a while the plant seeds embedded in it germinated and burst through. Not as picturesque as in the days of "a tiger in your tank" when minis were given tiger fur finish...

That happened in an episode of Minder

My ex BiL a bit of a rogue who had a body repair and paint shop did the occasional cheap job on bangers which rather than replace a body panel he would lay a sheet of newspaper down then carefully smooth a thin layer of body filler on it and lay it up on the rotten panel like hanging wallpaper. It hardly needed rubbing down a quick flash over with primer filler then a couple of coats and it was as good as ...........

The phrase "crumple zone" is easy to misinterpret... ;-)

I was there in le Marin when it was recovered and the story goes it hit a reef when under autopilot. Insurance write off I heard.
