Birmingham Boat and Outdoor Pics - Part 1 - Not for Dial-up

Took a short drive over to the NEC today to sample what my beloved city was offering up for us this year /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

For those of you who could not go, here is a basic roundup of what was going on (not very sail-based report) - Sorry some of the pictures are a bit blurry, the lighting was really weird and hard to get the flash right /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Sunseeker - Possibly the Portofino 47:

Broom:

Very interesting Yacht, the Macgregor 26M, big outboard on the back, special foam in the hull meaning even with multiple holes in the hull it still floats above the waterline, very impressive on video:

This was a one/two seater with an outboard on, apltly named 'the zippa' once again needed to be seen on the promo video /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thats it for now, waiting for the other more interesting ones to upload, including Fairlines, Azimut, Crownline, Sealine SC38 and others /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I must say the boating side of it (as opposed to caravans etc) seems to have improved a bit since I last went.
I was impressed with the build quality on the galeons.
I was unimpressed with the build quality on the new Brooms

The boating section took ages to get round and was a real improvement from last year - i found the same with the Brooms strangely enough, seemed a few flaws in the interior fittings that were quite noticeable...

Really? saw it had sold on the first day in the local papers, had a look round it, gorgeous looking boat, high superstructure to tower over everyone else /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

(Messed around with the electrics in the steering wheel through pure jealousy, now ehen you turn left it goes right /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif )

re the brooms. I actually like and have always fancied a Broom but the caravan quality interior on the one I boarded was a real let down. By comparison, the fitout on the galeon next door was impressive I thought.

Thanks for the pics. The MacGregor is a bizarre little thing but it's been around for many years. It seems there are people about that really do want a planing motor boat that can sometimes sail

The Genoa jib is a large forward sail that replaces the smaller jib and provides a very large increase in sail area. Like the jib, it attaches to the forward wire that holds up the mast (headstay), and sheets to adjustable blocks mounted on a track on the cockpit coaming. </span>

Haven't read it all, but expect it mentions the 'pointy end'.

I know this is an old thread, but only just joined....I own a Zippa....the last one in your pics, any one else on here have one? or am I the only mad one!
