Hi,

We have a Birchwood TS44 now. We plan to use the boat as our home next year. But then we want to have a bit larger vessel.

There are not many objects that meets our demands (3 cabins + crew cabin, and two siiting groups in saloon) and budget in Norway, so we might have to go abroad to find the next one.

I have some favourites: Fairline 50 (around 1990), Princess 55 (same age), I alos like the layout of the Bayliner 4588, but my wife think its very ugly - so thats not an option then:D

Reecntly I have also been aware of the bigger sisters of our Birchwood TS44: The TS54 and TS57.

But its not much info about these models, except the ads online. I really like the cabin and saloon layout, but I dont know much about the rest. I see they are equipped wit Detroit or Iveco engines - which i am not familiar with.

Any input here is much appreciated:)

God morgen og velkommen til forumet!!

I suspect not many TS 54 etc., were built, and thus there will be fewer around ... and as your dear wife like the style of them, then you may wish to include the Sunseeker Caribbean in the style/size bracked .. https://essex.boatshed.com/sunseeker_caribbean_52-boat-154522.html

Plus some stunners from Italy (eg' Astonda and Ferretti) and the odd one from France (Guy Couach 16, 17 and 18 series)... eg 1701 which all come with that very useful sliding door at the lower helm...

In respect to Detroits, I'll admit that I have been known to dabble a bit with these and may have been providing some guidance to others who may have considered boars with this engine.. However, you'f first port of call should be to speak with your customs people as European emission regulations may have come in to play and if an imported boat is considered "new" in Norway at time of import, then you may have to select a boat with engines which meet the current emission limits. A boat of the era you are looking at will not have engines (irrespective of manufacturer) that meet the modern limitations.

Lykke til !!

Mvh,

Alf

Takk for tips:) Thanks for the tip:) I liked the layoyt of The Sunseeker.

Hopefully we find a boat in Norway, and if not I think I will seek assistance from brokers that have experience with import of boats.
