I used my Binolytes on Sunday afternoon. I've only had them three years from new, and I was surprised that the compass was very sluggish about moving and displaying the direction I was looking in.

I had no idea the liquid could leak or be replaced. Is it a job one can do easily enough at home?

Not easy!
Determining what liquid to use - Alcohol or Oil.
What Viscosity
Drilling a small hole in the side - I use a needle about 0.6mm
Mugging a druggy to get a syringe
Filling to brim to get the smallest bubble possible
Sealing the hole with something that will not react with liquid filling - a hot wire to melt the plastic works.

But it can be done 😁

Thanks - I was supposing it's a standard service, rather than a bit of careful unguided DIY!

I think I'll rely on the Binolyt's quarter-century guarantee.
