I have been looking everywhere for a simple, slotted shelf
that will take, say, 4 mugs/drinks and fix to the forward side of the binnacle uprights.

I have seen them on boats in the Med and found a supplier in the US,
Snapit, but they won't reply to me.

Surely someone makes or imports such a basic and practical idea?

And yes, I have considered making one, but many hours graft!

Any ideas?

Or make some from stainless steel wire

These were made from 5mm dia wire but 4mm would also be strong enough but easier to bend to shape.

Thanks for your help,
The stainless ones are beyond my ability
and I was trying to avoid teak for aesthetic
and maintenance reasons, but the US snapit
ones are just right, I will try the retailers
and report back, might even look at importing
direct to retail on!

There used to be canvas ones which clipped to guard wire made b y blue - I haven't seen them for a while but if you are avoiding SS and teak would a material version work which you can unclip and put away etc ? We have new boat so having been looking for cup holder question as well so if you find any solutions do update on results
